Student answer (Band 6.0)

Yes i agree to the first part which states that access to clean water is basic human right but is strongly disagree with the second one which states that it should be free of cost beacuse i think that if we give water free of cost to population than they will waste thousands of gallons of water daily. Mostly people only value things that came with certain.

For example i live in a small village which is very beautiful and full of natural resources i.e water and plants. We have an easy access to clean water and it comes free of cost. I ofteen see that people of my village or nearby villages do not value clean water much. They waste a lot of water and it makes me sad. but as i grew up i went to the city to pursue my higher studies. My prespective for clean water completely changed. Here in city people don't have access to natural clean water so they buy it from the shop with decent amount. These people know the value of clean water and they do not waste it but as i said earlier people in my home town takes this blessing for granted. So in my opinnion everyone should have access to clean water but i do not agree to the point which states that it should be free of cost.

I think that there should be a minimum price for clean water so that every person can get access to clean water but on the other hand he/ she should know the value of clean water.Beacuse it is unethical to waste water. Indeed clean water is the blessing of god and everone should enjoy it but to waste it is not a good thing.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you support access to clean water as a right but oppose providing it free of charge. The village-versus-city comparison is relevant and gives a personal example to support your concern that free water may be wasted. You also propose a minimum price, which helps make your view more specific. However, the argument is not fully developed: the claim that people waste water because it is free is based mainly on your observations, and you do not consider how charges could affect people who cannot afford them. Explain how a basic supply could remain accessible while discouraging waste, and develop the consequences of your proposed pricing policy.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a generally coherent progression from your position, to a personal comparison, and then to a proposed minimum price. The contrast between your village and the city helps the reader follow the central argument. However, most of the discussion is presented in one long paragraph, so the stages of the argument are not clearly separated. Some linking is also mechanical or unclear: repeated uses of “but” and “as I said earlier” do not always show the precise relationship between ideas. Organise the response into distinct paragraphs for your position, supporting example, and conclusion, and use clearer transitions such as “by contrast” or “therefore” where appropriate.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “natural resources,” “access to clean water,” “minimum price,” and “take this blessing for granted.” These phrases help communicate your main ideas, and the personal example gives you some opportunity to vary your language. However, several word-choice and spelling errors reduce precision, including “free of cost,” “decent amount,” “prespective,” and “opinnion.” Some expressions are also vague or unnatural, such as “things that came with certain,” which makes the intended meaning less clear. Build accuracy with common collocations about water provision, affordability, and conservation, and proofread spelling and word forms carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including clauses with “which,” “so that,” and “but,” and the overall meaning is usually understandable. Some grammatical errors remain, particularly in sentence construction and agreement. For example, “is strongly disagree” should be “strongly disagree,” while “people in my home town takes” needs a plural verb. Articles are also missing in “clean water is basic human right,” and punctuation and capitalisation are inconsistent, as in “but” after a full stop. These errors do not generally prevent the reader from following your position, but they make the writing less controlled. Check subject–verb agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries during revision.
