Student answer (Band 5.5)

Water is an important elemant in our daily life. So using clean water is principal right for human. Therefore, every house should have a water supply that is provided free of charge. However, I agree with this statement that providing basic amount of free water is good for health and poor people can easily fulfill their daily needs.

On the one hand, water is a most useful demand in our daily life, if government provide water with no cost we can easily get better quality water. Because they will purify water in a very authentic way. Also the poor people will get benefit by this step, cause they had no objects by which they can purify water. Nowadays the cleaning water machine is very expencive so, most of family can able to afford it. Whereas, every year thousands of people died by diffrent kind of water disase. So, athorities should provide clean water to every societies people by that can lead a good life.

On the other hand, If government distribute free water may be people will not value it, may be they will waste water unnecessarily. Also, there are some companies which based on water, they will storage water illigal way and then they will sell them in the market with a profit. So in some extance people will misuse this advantages.

To conclude, providing free water service is essential for leading healthy life and the people of low income it will be beneficial for them. However, there are also some negetive impact some people may misuse of this service. But if there is some rule and limitation in water service than we can easily overcome from this negative impact.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you agree that households should receive a basic amount of free clean water, while recognising possible misuse. You address both sides and give relevant reasons, including health risks, affordability for poorer families, and waste or illegal resale. These points meet the task, but some are less fully developed than others. For example, the claim that authorities can provide better-quality water is asserted rather than explained, and the discussion of companies storing and reselling water is not clearly connected to how free household supply would cause this. Develop each main point with a specific explanation or example, and clarify whether you support all water being free or only a basic allowance. The 11 words copied from the prompt were not counted.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting contrasting considerations, and a conclusion that restates your view. This gives the reader an overall route through the argument. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow, and linking phrases can feel mechanical or unclear. For instance, “On the one hand” introduces benefits, but “Because they will purify water” is a fragment and its reference to “they” is uncertain. The shift to companies reselling water also needs a clearer link to the preceding point about waste. Use fewer, more precise connectors, make references explicit, and organise each paragraph around one main idea supported in sequence.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “purify,” “daily needs,” “low income,” and “misuse,” so the main ideas are generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several inaccurate word choices, collocations, and spelling errors make the writing less natural and sometimes slow the reader. Examples include “a most useful demand,” “authentic way,” “water disase,” and “negative impact.” Some words are also repeated, particularly “water,” “people,” and “provide.” Build a more precise topic vocabulary and check spelling and word combinations; for example, describe water as an “essential resource” and refer to “waterborne diseases.” This would make your argument clearer without requiring unnecessarily advanced vocabulary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including conditional ideas such as “if government distribute free water” and a contrast introduced by “However.” The overall meaning can usually be followed, but control is inconsistent, especially in longer sentences. For example, “Water is a most useful demand in our daily life, if government provide…” joins clauses incorrectly, while “most of family can able to afford it” has problems with articles and verb construction. There are also errors in agreement and sentence boundaries, as in “thousands of people died by…” and the fragment “Because they will purify water.” Practise building complete sentences with accurate subject–verb agreement, articles, and clause connections, then proofread punctuation.
