Student answer (Band 5.5)
Acess to clean water is basic humman right. Some people beleive every home should have a water supply that is provided free of charge. I partly disagree with it because water is basic need for everyone if goverment does not charge for it people may waste it.
On the one hand, water is very important for humman health. People need it for cooking, drinking, washing, etc, If the goverment charge much price for it then everyone not afford it for basic needs. For Example, in Pakistan most of the population is lower class. People have lot of issue that they face due to shortage of money. If people use dirty water than it also effect the health. So, goverment must need to provide pure water with low price.
On the other hand, supplying water to every home require water treatment, maintenance, pipelines and other basic services. If all water supply free of cost then goverment might struggle to cover this costs. Furthermore, people also waste water if they get water free of coast. That's why goverment need to add some charges on water because it also help goverment to maintain the things. People also not face any financial issue if some charges are add on pure water.
In conclusion, It is basic right of public to get pure water but, goverment also not provide water free of charge. If goverment no charge on water then it also face some issue. I think goverment need to some charge on water it good for both goverment and public.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You present a relevant, partly disagreeing position and address both sides: unaffordable water could harm people’s health, while free provision may strain government budgets and encourage waste. The Pakistan example helps make the affordability point concrete. However, several ideas remain general or under-developed, especially the claim that people would waste free water and the assertion that charges would not cause financial difficulty. Explain how a basic free allowance or income-based pricing could balance access and conservation, and support your claims more fully. The response is also 7 words below the 250-word minimum; the 13 words copied from the task prompt were not counted. Add relevant development rather than repetition.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, two contrasting body paragraphs signposted by “On the one hand” and “On the other hand,” and a conclusion. This makes the main line of reasoning easy to follow. However, some links are mechanical, and the progression within paragraphs could be clearer. For example, the Pakistan example moves from low incomes to dirty water and health effects without fully explaining the connection to the proposed pricing policy. The conclusion repeats the position but does not neatly resolve the tension between access and funding. Use clearer references and develop each paragraph around one claim, followed by explanation and an example.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “water treatment,” “maintenance,” “pipelines,” “shortage of money,” and “basic needs.” However, the range is limited and several spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable, such as “Acess,” “humman,” “beleive,” “goverment,” and “coast” for “cost.” Some phrases are also unnatural, including “face any financial issue” and “maintain the things,” which make parts of the argument less precise. Check spelling carefully and learn common collocations for public services and pricing. More precise terms such as “affordable tariff,” “water infrastructure,” and “conserve water” would help express your ideas efficiently.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a conditional structure in “if the government does not charge for it people may waste it” and a reason clause beginning “because.” However, control is inconsistent, and errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries occur throughout. Examples include “water is basic need,” “if the government charge,” “supply … require,” and “some charges are add.” The sentence beginning “People need it for cooking, drinking, washing, etc” also runs into the next clause with incorrect punctuation. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement and verb forms, and separate complete sentences with full stops or use conjunctions correctly. This will make your reasoning easier to follow.
