Student answer (Band 6.0)

Having accessibility to pure and clean water is essential for human life and it is also a basic right of human. It should be supplied to every house without any cost. I completely agreee to this statement as clean water is the basic human need and it is very curious for the proper funtioning of life. If government should take suitable steps, pure water can be supplied to every house.

One of the major reasons for having access to clean water is balanced functioning of body. Clean water is very important as it has many minerals in it which helps the body to generate energy. Contaminated water is the major cause of many diseases in many countries like Sudan, Africa and rural areas of Asia. It causes harmful diseases like diarrhea, dysentry and stomach problems in children as well as in young people. For example, most of the people in Africa are sufferning from diarrhea due to less availibilty of clean water.

If government should take proper steps to improve the quality of the water, these problems can be resolved. Government should build proper water plants in rural areas which can supply pure and clean water to the citizens. Another step is building dams. Rain water can be stored at the dams which can be purified by several steps and it enables to supply clean water to the houses of the society directly. Public responsibities are also very important as people dont have to throw their wastes and garbage in rivers and oceans.

To conclude, clean water is very important for human life and it should be supplied to houses directly which can be possible by developing proper water palnts and building dams.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear from the opening: you completely agree that clean water should be supplied to every home without charge, and the conclusion restates this view. You give relevant support by discussing health risks from contaminated water and possible government measures such as water-treatment plants and dams. This covers the task, but the argument is not fully developed in key places. The essay explains why clean water matters, yet gives little direct reasoning for why household supply should be free rather than paid for, and the proposed measures are listed more than evaluated. The example about illness in Africa is relevant but broad. To strengthen the response, explain how free provision would improve access for poorer households and develop one example with clearer detail.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a coherent overall arrangement: it introduces your view, gives a health-related reason, discusses possible solutions, and ends with a conclusion. Paragraphing helps the reader follow these stages, and links such as “For example” and “To conclude” make the relationships between ideas clear. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes mechanical, with repeated references to clean water and government action rather than a more developed sequence of claims and explanations. The shift from health benefits to infrastructure and then public responsibility could also be connected more explicitly. Some references, such as “these problems,” are understandable but could identify the specific health problems more precisely. Use a wider range of linking and referencing, and make each paragraph build clearly on the previous one.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “contaminated water,” “minerals,” “diseases,” “water plants,” and “dams,” so the main ideas are generally understandable. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “balanced functioning of body” and “proper steps,” but several expressions are inaccurate or unnatural, which limits precision. Spelling errors are noticeable in words such as “funtioning,” “dysentry,” “availibilty,” and “palnts.” Some wording is also repetitive, particularly “pure and clean water” and “proper.” Aim to learn accurate collocations and check spelling carefully; for example, use “access to clean water” rather than “having accessibility to” and “water-treatment plants” rather than “water plants.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including conditional structures such as “If government should take proper steps…” and a relative clause in “minerals in it which helps the body.” The overall meaning is usually clear, but some errors in sentence construction, agreement, articles, and verb forms reduce accuracy. For instance, “If government should take” is not a natural conditional pattern here; “If the government takes…” would be clearer. In “minerals … which helps,” the verb should agree with the plural noun, and “the body” needs an article. The opening also contains awkward constructions such as “a basic right of human.” Practise accurate conditional forms and subject–verb agreement, while checking articles and sentence boundaries.
