Student answer (Band 5.5)

Today, in this modern world getting clean water is included in basic human right. That is the reason every house should have proper supply of water, which should be free of cost. I strongly stand by with this statement as clean water is disease free and contains mineral.

As world is getting advance day by day, people living in rural area, still has no access to clean water. Water pipelines are not constructed in villages and countryside is the major cause. Especially rurals, have to travel kilometers to find just enough water for their satisfaction of thirst. Furthermore, villagers have to drink unhygenic water eventually leading to harmful diseases such as malaria. For instance, a survey by journalists was carried in India suggesting that more than 40% of people not living in city has less or no availability of filtered water.

Moreover, to meet demand of each an every town government should supply, providing filters and water tanks wherever needed. This will result in smooth and temporary solution. Furthermore, introducing water pipelines building mega filteration projects would be a concrete solution. Human rights are clearly described in the constitution but having a clear and fresh glass of water is basic rights of every individual. However, things are totally reversed, people have to even pay for water these days. Government should work on supply of free water as well as need to give proper attention so that it is not violated.

In conclusion, norms and rules are responsibility of governer officers but following and working on those is part of everyone.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear from the introduction: you strongly support free access to clean water, and the response stays focused on this issue. You give relevant reasons, especially the lack of safe water in rural areas, the health risks, and the government’s responsibility to provide infrastructure. The reference to a survey in India also attempts to support your point with an example. However, some parts of the argument are less fully developed: the claim that clean water contains minerals does not explain why it should be free, and the proposed temporary measures and large filtration projects are not compared or explained in detail. Develop each main reason with a clearer explanation of how it supports your position, and make the conclusion restate that position directly.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and the ideas generally move from the problem of rural access to possible government action. Linking expressions such as “Furthermore” and “Moreover” help signal additions. However, these transitions are sometimes mechanical or repetitive, and the relationship between ideas is not always clear. For example, “This will result in smooth and temporary solution” follows the suggestion of filters and tanks, but the meaning of “smooth” and the connection to a temporary solution are unclear. The final paragraph shifts to “everyone” without explaining how individual responsibility relates to the government’s duty. Use clearer topic sentences and more precise referencing to strengthen the progression.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “water pipelines,” “filtered water,” “human rights” and “constitution,” and you attempt some less common expressions such as “concrete solution.” This gives you enough range to discuss access and public provision. However, several word choices, collocations and spelling errors make the writing less natural, including “disease free,” “smooth and temporary solution,” “mega filteration projects” and “rurals.” Some repeated general terms, such as “water” and “people,” could also be replaced with more precise wording where appropriate. Aim to learn common collocations and check spelling and word forms; this would make your ideas clearer and more fluent without changing their meaning.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a relative clause in “a water supply of water, which should be free of cost” and a subordinate clause beginning “so that.” Most of the intended meaning can be understood, but some grammatical errors remain. For example, “people living in rural area, still has” has a subject–verb agreement problem, while “every house should have proper supply” needs an article. The sentence beginning “As world is getting advance” also has problems with article use and clause construction. Review agreement, articles and sentence boundaries, and proofread longer sentences carefully. More accurate control of these patterns would make your argument easier to follow.
