Student answer (Band 6.0)
Access to clean water is a basic human right. Therefore every home should have a water supply that is provided free of charge. I disagree with this statement because I think when you get something free of cost then you do not value it and waste it unknowingly. Also it should not be expensive but should be cheap so everyone can afford it.
I believe when people get something free they do not value it like when they buy something with their own money. If people get water free of charge they will use it without any consideration. But when they will pay for it they will be more conscious of when to use it and when to not. Also they will not waste it. However, it should not be very expensive so that everyone is able to afford it. It should be cheap so that poor people can also buy it without any financial burden.
When people buy things with their own money they use it with more care. So if water is not free of charge people will be careful not to waste any. It can be very beneficial because as the population is increasing day by day the need of water is also rising considerately. This can result in future generations not having adequate fresh water supply. So, it is of very important to save as much water as possible and not waste it. The recycling of water should also be cheap so that it can also help in saving water for the future generations.
So in my conclusion, water should be sold at moderate amount of money. So, everyone can afford it and also use it carefully and consciously. In this way, future generations will also not face the issue of water shortage. Recycling of water should also be made cheap.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear from the opening: you disagree with free household water, while arguing that it should remain affordable. You support this with relevant points about waste, rising demand and future shortages, and you also mention recycling. This addresses the task and shows some development beyond simply stating an opinion. However, the argument relies heavily on repeating the idea that people value what they pay for, and the claim that charging will prevent waste is not supported with a concrete example or explanation of how pricing would work for households in need. The recycling point is introduced but not developed. To strengthen the response further, explain how a low-cost or tiered system could protect access while encouraging conservation.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a coherent overall structure: an introduction states your view, the body paragraphs explain your reasoning, and the conclusion restates your position. Ideas generally follow a sensible sequence, particularly the link between water use, population growth and future supply. However, progression is weakened by repetition: the claim that people use paid-for goods more carefully appears several times, and the conclusion repeats both affordability and recycling without adding a final implication. Connectors such as “Also,” “But,” and “So” are sometimes mechanical, while “So in my conclusion” is an awkward signpost. Give each paragraph a distinct purpose and use clearer references and transitions to show how each point advances the argument.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is adequate for communicating the main argument, and phrases such as “financial burden,” “adequate fresh water supply” and “future generations” suit the topic. You also attempt more specific language about conservation and recycling. However, the range is limited by repeated everyday wording, especially “free,” “cheap,” “use” and “waste,” and some combinations are not natural or precise. For example, “increasing day by day” and “sold at moderate amount of money” could be expressed more idiomatically, while “rising considerably” is the intended meaning of “rising considerately.” Aim for more precise topic vocabulary and vary repeated terms, while checking collocations and word forms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including conditional reasoning (“If people get water free of charge…”) and a cause-and-effect explanation of future shortages. Most sentences remain understandable, so grammatical errors rarely obstruct your meaning. Some errors nevertheless affect accuracy and naturalness. In “when they will pay for it,” use “when they pay for it” for a general situation; “it is of very important to save” should be “it is very important to save”; and “water should be sold at moderate amount” needs an article before “moderate amount.” There is also a run-on tendency in places where several ideas are joined with “so” or “and.” Practise accurate conditional forms, articles and sentence boundaries while retaining your complex structures.
