Student answer (Band 6.0)

In this modern era, everything is polluted and its hard to find the clean water especially in big cities. In this regard, it is a basic human need that they have an easy access to fresh water so that every house must have a pure water source that does not cost anything and easily available on daily basis. I strongly agree with this point because it provides us with free of cost water, time saving and

To begin with, having a free source of water at houses is essential for every individual or family. This is due to fact that it offers us with free of cost water everyday so anyone do not have to buy clean water for his family which also leads to an increases in monthly expense and it will become hard to manage. A clear example of this is my own house, we have a source of drinkable water through pipelines in our area and its totally free except some maintainence charges (which is fair). As a result, we can drink water without contaminations freely and easily.

Secondly, It makes our life easier by saving our precious time. This is largely because having a direct supply of clear water at home then people do not have to go far away from their houses to collect purified water just like our ancestors did. They walk long distances and fill their pots with water from canals. Somehow, that was very difficult practice and also requires alot of time. For instance, Nowadays, in many underdeveloping towns or villages people used to go at nearby nearby water filteration plant and pour waters in containers and store it to use entire day. But on the other hand, people who have water supply at houses they do not have to go anywhere and this literally saves their time.

To conclude, having filtered water is a basic right of every individuals. I strongly beleive it is neccessary to have a water supply at home with out any charges. So that everyone can have access to free water (Despite he/she is rich or poor). And i would suggest to governments that free of cost water sources should be provided to every individual by spreading the pipelines even in small towns. I think this is a fair practice.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear from the introduction: you strongly agree that households should receive clean water without charge, and the conclusion restates this view and recommends extending pipelines to smaller towns. You support the argument with two relevant reasons—reducing household costs and saving time—and examples involving your own piped supply and people collecting water in villages. This addresses the task well. However, the claim that water should be free is not fully examined: your example mentions maintenance charges, but you do not explain how these fit with the proposal or how governments could fund reliable treatment and delivery. The time-saving point is also more fully illustrated than developed as an argument. Clarifying these implications would make the response more complete and persuasive.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs organised around separate reasons, and a conclusion. Sequencers such as “To begin with,” “Secondly,” and “To conclude” make the progression easy to follow. Examples are generally placed alongside the points they support. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical, and some links are unclear or awkward. For example, “But on the other hand” does not introduce a genuine contrast, while “As a result” connects the pipeline example to a conclusion without clearly explaining the relationship. The opening sentence also ends abruptly after “and,” which disrupts the transition into the first body paragraph. Use fewer formulaic transitions and make each connection between claim, explanation, and example explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate your main ideas, including “drinkable water,” “pipelines,” “contaminations,” and “water filtration plant.” There are also attempts at more specific phrasing, such as “monthly expense” and “precious time.” However, word choice and collocation are often inaccurate or repetitive, which limits precision: “free of cost water” appears several times, “clear water” is used where “clean” or “safe drinking water” is intended, and “pour waters” is unnatural. Spelling errors such as “maintainence,” “beleive,” and “neccessary” are noticeable. Aim to use a smaller set of accurate, natural expressions consistently, and check spelling and word forms during revision.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including explanations with “because” and “which,” and most of your meaning remains understandable. However, errors in agreement, articles, verb forms, and sentence construction recur. For example, “anyone do not have to buy” needs a singular verb and a different negative construction, while “it offers us with” has an incorrect grammatical pattern. “Having a direct supply … then people do not have to go” is not a well-formed sentence, and the opening paragraph ends with an incomplete clause. There are also punctuation and capitalisation slips, such as “Secondly, It” and “Nowadays” after a comma. Practise checking each sentence for a complete subject and verb, then review agreement and clause structure.
