Student answer (Band 6.0)

Access to treated water is basic human right. Therefore the government should provide free borehole on every home. This essay will discuss why i strongly agree that clean treated water should be made readily available in homes.

Firstly, access to treated water is an important aspect of every home, hence the government should ensure that enough water supply are distributed to every home on a daily basis. In many part of the world, enormous amount of tax are being collected from individul, hence it is the duty of the government to provide this basic infrastructure to the people. Another significant benefit of free treated water is that it helps to curtail the spread of water born diseses. For example cholrea, hepatis A and other communicable diseases. Several homes in the rural areas tends to use stream and river as the basic source for watersupply, in most cases this are unhhygienic water that carries alot of bacteria, leading to endemic diseases.

Secondly, in many regions, free taps and borhole are being provided by the government to ensure that individual homes can drink clean water at the cpmfort of their home, without requring to walk long distance to fetch water. The indian government for example practice this system. Treated water are being supplied daily to home. Altough this practice, regulates and limits the amount of water used each day in homes, leading to supply insufficiency.

In conclusion, clean water is essential for good health, hence government should make provison for it in home, expecially homes living in poverty and those in rural areas.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you strongly agree that governments should make clean water available to homes. You give relevant reasons, including public health, the use of tax revenue, and the difficulty rural residents face when collecting water. The examples of waterborne illnesses and the Indian government help make the argument concrete. However, some points are less fully explained than others. For instance, you mention that daily limits can cause “supply insufficiency,” but do not explain how this affects your argument or what a fair free-water policy would involve. Also clarify whether you mean a free household supply or free boreholes, since these are different proposals. Developing this distinction and extending the examples would make the response more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs signposted by “Firstly” and “Secondly,” and a conclusion. The ideas generally progress from the health and public-service case to access in rural areas, so the reader can follow your argument. Some linking is mechanical, however, and connections between claims could be clearer. For example, the second body paragraph moves from government-provided taps and boreholes to the Indian example, then to limits on water use without explaining how the final point relates to your position. The conclusion also repeats the central claim rather than drawing together the main reasons. Use more precise referencing and explain the relationship between each example and the point it supports.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “treated water,” “basic infrastructure,” “communicable diseases,” and “rural areas,” which allows you to discuss the issue clearly. There are also attempts at more specific expressions, such as “curtail the spread,” though some combinations are inaccurate or unnatural: “water born diseases,” “water supply are distributed,” and “free borehole on every home.” Spelling errors such as “individul,” “cholrea,” “hepatis,” and “cpmfort” reduce the accuracy of the vocabulary. Some wording is also imprecise, particularly “this system,” which does not clearly identify the policy being described. Aim for accurate collocations and proofread spelling so your adequate range is expressed more precisely.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “hence,” “that,” and “leading to.” Most of the argument remains understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “enough water supply are distributed” has a subject–verb agreement problem, while “Several homes … tends” and “Treated water are being supplied” also show agreement errors. Articles and sentence boundaries need attention in “Access to treated water is a basic human right” and “For example, cholera…”; the latter is currently a fragment. There are also errors in plural and demonstrative forms, as in “this are unhygenic water.” Check agreement, articles, and whether each sentence has a complete main clause. More consistently accurate complex sentences would strengthen control.
