Student answer (Band 5.5)
Access to clean water is a basic human right. Therefore, every home should have a water supply that is provided free of charge. I completely agree with this statement because water is essential for survival and free water can help poor families.
The first reason is that clean water is necessary for human life. Individuals use water for drinking, cooking, washing and cleaning their homes. As for concern of pure water its necessary for human health, doctors also recommend pure drinking water. If an individual uses contaminated water it can cause serious health problems especially, stomach and lungs diseases. Therefore, the government should also take steps for local areas to provide pure water free of charge then they can live healthier lives.
The second reason is that free water can reduce the financial burden on low income families. Poor families can't afford the expenses of clean water because they are already facing major financial issues. For instance, many people in Pakistan already struggle to pay for their education fees, utility bills, electricity bills, phone bills and transportation expenses. Paying extra money for water bills can cause problems for them. However, individuals should use clean water carefully and should not waste with carelessness. So, government should give relief to local inhabitants by providing pure water system free of cost.
In conclusion, I completely agree with this statement that every household should have access to clean water free of cost. As, it is essential for good health and can make life easier for poor families.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
Your position is clear from the introduction and conclusion: you completely agree that households should receive clean water free of charge. You give two relevant reasons—health and the financial pressure on low-income families—and the Pakistan example helps illustrate the second. However, the discussion is brief and some points are asserted rather than explained; for example, the reference to stomach and lung diseases is not developed, and the essay does not consider how free provision could be funded or managed. The response is also 230 words, below the required 250; the 23 words copied from the task prompt are not counted. Develop your examples and explain the reasoning behind each point to address the task more fully.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting separate reasons, and a conclusion that restates your position. Signposting such as “The first reason,” “The second reason,” and “In conclusion” makes the progression easy to follow. However, some links feel mechanical, and the sequence within the first body paragraph is not always smooth: the move from water’s uses to doctors’ recommendations and then to government action could be connected more explicitly. “However” introduces a caution about wasting water, but its relationship to the preceding point about affordability is not fully clear. Use a wider range of linking and referencing, and make the connection between each example and your main claim explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate your main ideas, including “contaminated water,” “financial burden,” and “low income families.” These choices show some range beyond basic terms. However, several expressions are repetitive or imprecise, particularly the repeated use of “pure water” and “free of cost,” and phrases such as “expenses of clean water” and “relief to local inhabitants” are not natural in this context. There are also word-form and collocation problems, such as “stomach and lungs diseases” and “waste with carelessness.” Aim for more precise, natural combinations and vary repeated terms; this will make your argument clearer and more fluent without changing its meaning.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use a mixture of simple sentences and some longer structures, and the main message remains understandable. For example, the conditional sentence beginning “If an individual uses contaminated water” shows an attempt to express cause and effect. However, errors in sentence construction, articles, agreement, and punctuation recur. In “As for concern of pure water its necessary,” the clause is incomplete and needs clearer structure; “Poor families can't afford the expenses” would be more accurate as “the expense” or “the cost,” and “As, it is essential” incorrectly separates the conjunction from its clause. Practise building accurate complex sentences and check punctuation and sentence boundaries. Greater control of these patterns would make the response easier to read.
