Student answer (Band 5.5)

According to the law getting clean water is a fundamental humand rights of everyone, and therefore, government should provided a clean water supply to every house withou any cahrges. I disagree with these for several reasons which I will proveded bellow.

First of all, provding free water is a tedious and expensive work for any goverenment in the world. For doing this they need heaveliy to invest and which is not just a small amount of monet. To make the the water clean and safe to drink there are a lot of process in where the authories expense too much money. Therefore, if the do not take any charge from the people that would be a burden for the government and which could make ignore other basic human rights. For example, health and education are also great important of human rights, so if authorites provide free water the may could cut the budget from education or health budget.

Another important reason that government should cahrge money for water supply is people waste their water without reasons if it is free. There is a humand tendesy that when the get soemtimg free they do not care about the value of it, and they waste thses. For example, if authorities charges money regarding the amount of water they used, then people will be good user they will count every drops of the water.

Yes, of course, I believe that access of the clean water is basic human rights but I am not agreee with this that it should be free for everyone.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you disagree that household water should be free, while acknowledging that clean water is a basic right. You give two relevant reasons—public costs and the risk of waste—and support them with examples involving health and education budgets and metered use. This addresses the task, but the ideas are not developed equally or fully. The cost argument would be stronger if you explained how charging users could help fund treatment and infrastructure without denying anyone access to a basic supply. The claim that free water leads people to waste it also needs qualification or a more specific example. Develop these points and clarify whether you support affordable or subsidised access for people who cannot pay.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting separate reasons, and a concluding statement that restates your position. Signposting such as “First of all” and “Another important reason” helps readers follow the main progression. However, some links are mechanical or unclear, particularly the repeated use of “therefore” and the long sentence beginning “Therefore, if they do not take any charge…”. The connection between water costs and possible cuts to health or education budgets needs to be expressed more directly. Some references, such as “these” and “they” in the opening and body paragraphs, are not always clear. Use more precise referencing and vary the transitions to make the argument flow more naturally.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “fundamental human rights,” “water supply,” “budget,” and “basic human rights,” so the main ideas can be understood. There are also attempts at more formal wording, such as “tedious and expensive” and “authorities.” However, the range is limited and several spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable, including “humand,” “goverenment,” “cahrge,” and “tendesy.” Some combinations are unnatural: “a tedious and expensive work” and “good user” do not express your meaning idiomatically. These errors sometimes make the reader pause. Build accuracy by checking spelling and learning common topic collocations, such as “costly to provide,” “water-treatment process,” and “use water responsibly.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including conditional structures such as “if authorities charge money… then people will…,” and your meaning is generally recoverable. However, control is inconsistent, especially in longer sentences. Examples include “government should provided,” “if the do not take any charge,” and “I am not agreee,” where verb forms or sentence patterns are faulty. Articles and agreement also need attention, as in “a fundamental… rights” and “the may could cut.” Several sentences join clauses awkwardly, making relationships between ideas harder to follow. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement, modal and conditional forms, and article use; then check each sentence for a clear subject and one correctly formed main verb.
