Student answer (Band 5.5)

In the globe, there are more water resourses than land eventhough majority of water resourses are not fit to consume. Even having enough water resourses in the globe, in many areas there have been shortage of safe water where many people also travel many kilometers just to find clean water. As water is a basic human right there have been a discussion whether water shouold be provided to human for free of cost which is a debatable topic.

Firstly, talking about why humans must have clean water for free of cost is water is very essential to do anything like cooking, cleaning or to consume or even farming. In many nations we have been hearing people dying just because of unsafe water or shortage or water which results having no crops which will eventually hampper the nations economy. Even though water resources covers majority of globe but consumeable water is really less which makes it harder to many nation to provide it for free for setting a limit could be better.

Secondly, why there could be disagreement in many people that water must not be provided free is as i mentioned we have enough water in globe but consumeable is very less so purification, maintainance and many other facilities need operation cost inorder to have safe water which needs money where many nations cannot afford it for all the citizens so it leads to having certain fees. The second point of disagreement is we human have a nature of not respecting for things we get it for free, safe water is very less and if its given for free many people will waster water where the value is wasted.

In conclusion, i think safe water is human right and must be given free in a limit where certain charges for operation can be charged in order to have value of water where it will not be wasted and all pressure will not be within goverment only also.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address the central question and present a recognisable position: clean water should be free within limits, while some charges may be needed to cover operating costs. The discussion of water’s importance for cooking, cleaning and farming, and the costs of purification and infrastructure, is relevant. You also consider both support and opposition, so the response covers the main sides of the issue. However, the position could be stated more clearly and consistently: the opening frames the issue as debatable, while the conclusion introduces a limited-free-supply compromise without explaining how it would work. Some claims, such as free water leading people to waste it, need a specific example or further reasoning. Develop the practical meaning of “free in a limit” to make your argument more convincing.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting different considerations, and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the broad progression. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical, and the long body paragraphs contain several ideas that are not always linked smoothly. For example, the first body paragraph moves from household uses to deaths, crop failure, national economies, and then the difficulty of providing water free of charge. Some references, including “the second point of disagreement,” are not fully clear because the preceding point is not sharply defined. Group related ideas more carefully and use transitions that show the relationship between claims, such as cause, contrast, or consequence.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of topic vocabulary, including “purification,” “shortage,” “crops,” “economy,” and “operation cost,” which allows you to discuss access and supply. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “basic human right” and “certain fees.” However, spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable, including “resourses,” “consumeable,” “maintainance,” and “waster.” Some combinations are unnatural or imprecise, such as “free of cost,” “travel many kilometers,” and “all pressure will not be within government only.” These do not prevent the main message from being understood, but they reduce precision and fluency. Check spelling carefully and learn common collocations for water provision, costs, and access.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including clauses with “even though,” “where,” and “which,” and the overall meaning is generally understandable. However, some sentence structures are faulty or difficult to follow. For example, “Firstly, talking about why humans must have clean water for free of cost is water is very essential” lacks a clear grammatical structure, while “which results having no crops” is not correctly formed. There are also errors in articles, agreement, and sentence boundaries, as in “there have been a discussion” and the long sentence beginning “The second point of disagreement is we human have a nature.” Aim for clearer subject–verb structures, and divide long sentences when they contain several separate claims. Proofread punctuation and agreement.
