Student answer (Band 6.0)

Water is a basic need for everyone and it is very essential for living. Many cities of the world do not have clean water resourses and this causes many diseases. Therefore every home should have water facility and I agree to some extent that it should be provided free of cost without any charges. In this essay, I will discuss the reason behind clean water and its supply.

Many communities use the underground water for their drinking and other purposes. But there are many region in the world that don't have clean water. Due to the drinking of polluted water many harmful and fatal diseases occur in the people. People are the responsibility of the state, and it is state's responsibilities to provide the basic needs. Water filtration plant costs a lot of money that a normal or poor people cannot afford it. Therefore, they do not have any other option rather than drinking unhealthy water.

People living near an industrial area have most difficulty to the access of clean water. As I do not completely agree with the term that it should be provided free of charge because a large amount of capital is requird for the equipments and its maintenance. Moreover, people will use water without any restriction. They will waste plenty of water instead of using it. This will have negative effect on natural fesh drinkable water resourses and the water supply section. Therefore, an appropriate amount should be fixed for the water charges.

In conclusion, although water is basic human right and it should be provided free. But people will destroy the things that they get without any efforts or money. Therefore a resonable price should be implimented for it.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is that clean water should be accessible, but you do not fully support providing it free of charge; this is relevant to the question and is stated in the introduction and conclusion. You give reasons on both sides: polluted water can cause disease, and filtration and maintenance are costly, while free access might encourage waste. These points address the task, but some are less fully developed than others. For example, the claim that the state is responsible for people’s basic needs would be stronger with a specific explanation of how free or subsidised provision could work. Clarify whether you favour a limited free allowance or a reasonable charge for all household water, and support that position with a concrete example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting reasons, and a conclusion. The progression from health risks to the costs and possible waste of free water is generally easy to follow. You also use linking expressions such as “Therefore,” “Moreover,” and “In conclusion” to signal relationships between ideas. At times, however, these transitions feel mechanical, and some connections are unclear. For instance, the shift from industrial areas to your disagreement about free provision could be made more explicit. The conclusion also introduces the idea that people destroy things they receive without effort, which is not fully established in the body. Use clearer references and connect each paragraph more directly to your central position.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of topic vocabulary, including “polluted water,” “filtration plant,” “maintenance,” and “natural” water resources, so the main ideas are understandable. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “basic human right” and “appropriate amount.” However, several word-choice and collocation problems reduce precision, including “water facility,” “difficulty to the access,” and “fresh drinkable water resources.” Spelling errors such as “resourses,” “requird,” and “implimented” also detract from accuracy. Aim to use common, precise collocations and check spelling carefully; this will make your argument sound more natural without requiring unnecessarily complex vocabulary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use both simple and complex sentence forms, including a cause-and-effect structure in “Due to the drinking of polluted water…” and a concession in “although water is basic human right…”. Most sentences communicate the intended meaning, but some grammatical errors remain. For example, “there are many region” needs plural agreement, and “it is state's responsibilities” has problems with both the possessive form and subject–verb agreement. The final sentence beginning “although” is a fragment because the dependent clause is not joined correctly to the main clause. Review articles, plural forms, agreement, and sentence boundaries, and revise long sentences to ensure each clause is complete.
