Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is weidely believed that clean drinking clean water is a basic need of everyone so every home should be provided with water supply without any cost.I partially agree with this view.If water is available for free , it can cause wastage of natural clean water and at the same time it is basic need of every home, so proper water distribution mechanism should be adopt .

One the one hand ,water is very crucial element which we use in our daily lives.Water is basic necessary item in homes which is used in most quantity. In homes we used water for drinking purpose,to cook foods and for bathing purpose.Furthermore, water is used to grow vegetables in home gardens. For this reason, the availabilty of fresh water should be ensured to every home as it plays a significant role in maintaining daily human lives.

One the other hand,if clean water will be available for free to people who are unaware about its importance in human lives, they will waste water without any hesitation. As a result the natural water sources will be reduced and for future we will not have sufficient resources of clean water for consumption. For this reson, the authorities should charge some money from the users so that they can use it wisely or they should provide basic knowledge to water consumers about its importance to ensure its balanced use.

All things considered,I believe that water plays a very significant role in maintaining human lives and its availability should be ensured to everyone provided that authorities should have a proper strategy to ensure the optimium and efficient consumption of the water.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you partially agree, supporting access for every household while arguing that some payment or education is needed to prevent waste. The discussion is relevant, and the examples of household uses—drinking, cooking, bathing and gardening—help explain why water is essential. However, the two sides are not developed equally: the case for free access is mainly a list of uses, while the concern about waste is asserted without a specific example or explanation of how charging would ensure fair access. The conclusion also leaves the policy somewhat unclear, since it calls for availability but does not specify whether a basic amount should be free. Clarifying that distinction and extending each main reason would make the response more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, two contrasting body paragraphs signposted by “One the one hand” and “One the other hand,” and a concluding summary. This makes the main line of argument easy to follow. Some connections, however, are mechanical or unclear. For example, “For this reason” introduces the claim that fresh water should be ensured, but the link between household uses and free provision could be explained more explicitly. The opening sentence also combines several ideas in a crowded sequence, and the final sentence is difficult to follow because it joins availability and an authority strategy without clearly showing their relationship. Use clearer sentence boundaries and more precise references to strengthen progression.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “natural water sources,” “consumption,” “distribution mechanism” and “balanced use.” These choices show an attempt to discuss the issue beyond basic everyday terms. However, several word-choice and collocation problems reduce precision, such as “basic necessary item,” “used in most quantity,” “grow vegetables in home gardens” and “optimium and efficient consumption.” There are also spelling errors, including “weidely,” “availabilty” and “reson.” Repetition of “water,” “basic” and “importance” limits the range. Aim for accurate, natural combinations such as “essential resource,” “household water use” and “conserve supplies,” and check spelling carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including conditional reasoning (“if clean water will be available…”) and a concluding clause beginning “provided that.” The overall meaning is generally understandable, but some grammatical errors make parts less clear. For example, “every home should be provided with water supply” needs an article, and “proper water distribution mechanism should be adopt” has an incorrect verb form. The conditional “if … will be available” should use a present form after “if,” while “In homes we used water” shifts tense unnecessarily. There are also punctuation and spacing problems around commas, which make sentences harder to read. Practise accurate articles, verb forms and conditional structures while keeping the complex sentences manageable.
