Student answer (Band 5.5)

Access to clean drinking water is essential for every human survival and well being. I Strongly agree that every household should receive a free basic water supply, as it necessary for maintaining good health and improving people's quality of life.

To begin with ,one of the main reasons why clean water should be provided free of cost as it is crucial for public health. By having clean water can prevent a lot of disease like tuberculosis and many others. Moreover many individual need clean water for drinking, washing dishes, cooking and in toilets. poor families can not always afford clean water so in these people they have many diseases and also its a life threatening condition

Furthermore, providing free water would significantly reduced the financial burden on low income families. by this poor people can save more money, focus on their health and education. For instance families with limited income also have that facility one thing that government have to charge is that extra usage of water will charge so this can prevent extra usage of water.

In conclusion, i firmly believe that every household should have access to a free basic water supply beacause it is essential for public health and finanical stability. so i belive that it should make the environment more clean and health less ratio of disease so all of these things combine will make a very huge difference. people have to less spent on diseases and they could spent more money on their own to make their life better and health wealthy

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear from the opening: you strongly support a free basic household water supply, and the conclusion restates this view. You give relevant reasons, especially public health and the financial pressure on low-income families, and you recognise that charging for excessive use could discourage waste. These points address the question, but some are less fully developed than others. For example, the claim that clean water prevents diseases is not explained or supported with a specific example, and the point about extra-use charges is difficult to follow. Develop each reason with a clear explanation of how free provision would work and a concrete example, while distinguishing a basic allowance from unlimited free use.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs beginning with “To begin with” and “Furthermore,” and a conclusion. This helps the reader identify your main reasons. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear, particularly in the example about low-income families and charges for extra water; the relationship between the ideas needs to be stated more explicitly. Some linking phrases, such as “Moreover” and “so,” connect points mechanically, and the conclusion repeats earlier claims rather than bringing them together concisely. Use clearer topic sentences, organise each paragraph around one main point, and make references such as “by this” or “these people” precise so the connections between sentences are easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “clean drinking water,” “public health,” “financial burden,” and “low income families,” so the reader can understand the central argument. However, the range is limited and several word choices or forms are inaccurate or repetitive. For instance, “a lot of disease” is imprecise, “life threatening condition” is vague in context, and “health wealthy” does not express a natural meaning. Spelling errors such as “beacause,” “finanical,” and “belive” also reduce accuracy. Build a more precise vocabulary for discussing access, affordability, sanitation, and public health, and check spelling and collocations carefully. Prefer specific terms over repeated general words such as “people,” “things,” and “good.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentences, and the overall meaning is generally recoverable. However, control is inconsistent, especially in clauses and verb forms. For example, “as it necessary” is missing a verb, “By having clean water can prevent” has no clear grammatical subject, and “would significantly reduced” uses the wrong verb form after “would.” There are also problems with sentence boundaries and capitalisation, as in “condition Furthermore” and the lowercase “i” at the start of sentences. These errors sometimes make relationships between ideas difficult to understand. Practise forming complete clauses, using modal verbs with the base form, and checking punctuation and sentence boundaries before submitting.
