Student answer (Band 5.5)

There is no denying that every home should have a water supply that is provided free of charge because access to clean water is a basic human right . I strongly agree with this statement for several reasons.

Initially, water is crucial for human well-being and daily activities, individuals need it for drinking, cooking, showering . And the problem is that not everyone can not afford to pay for water , especially families with limited income , so for that, providing free access to clean water can help them to benefit from it and improve their quality of life .

secondly , cleaning water plays an important role in protecting public health , when people do not have access to clean water , they are forced to use contaminated water which can lead to many health diseases , for example , in some communities , many people don't have all access to clean water , which made them in e hard situation to overcome hearth illnesses . And for that , government should use strict laws to ensure that everyone can access to clean water and that to decline the percentage of diseases and illnesses.

Finally , the reason that makes me strongly agree with this proposition is that clean water can ensure the life that everyone wish to live , and by that , all of us will be able to appreciate our life and live in peace .

At the end , I really agree that every home should receive a cleaner water that can ensure both good life and health .

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear from the opening: “I strongly agree,” and the response gives relevant reasons about affordability, public health and quality of life. The health paragraph includes an example of communities using contaminated water, but it remains general and is difficult to follow; the other reasons also need fuller explanation or a specific example. The conclusion restates your view rather than drawing the reasons together. The response contains 242 words, so it is 8 words below the 250-word minimum; the 22 words copied from the task prompt are not counted. Develop each main point with clearer explanation and relevant support to address the task more fully.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has an introduction, separate reason paragraphs and a conclusion, and signposts such as “Initially,” “secondly” and “Finally” help show the intended structure. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear: the health paragraph moves from contaminated water to government laws without explaining the connection, while “And for that” is used repeatedly as a link. Some sentences also run several ideas together, making relationships harder to follow. Use a clearer topic sentence for each paragraph, then explain and support that point in a logical order. Vary linking expressions and use punctuation to separate complete ideas; this would make the organisation more coherent and less mechanical.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “basic human right,” “limited income,” “public health” and “contaminated water,” so the reader can understand the main subject and reasons. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or repetitive. For example, “cleaning water” does not express the intended idea as naturally as “clean water,” and “health diseases” is an awkward combination. “A cleaner water” is also unsuitable in this context. These choices sometimes make the meaning less precise, although the overall argument remains understandable. Build a wider set of accurate phrases for access, affordability and health, and check collocations and word forms when revising.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences with reasons, such as the sentence beginning “when people do not have access to clean water.” However, complex sentences are often faulty, and frequent errors in sentence boundaries, agreement and sentence construction can make the reader pause. For instance, “water is crucial …, individuals need it” joins two independent clauses with only a comma, and “not everyone can not afford” creates a confusing negative construction. There are also inconsistent capitalisation and punctuation, including lowercase “secondly” after a paragraph break and spaces before full stops. Practise forming complete sentences, using conjunctions or full stops accurately, and proofreading for agreement and punctuation.
