Student answer (Band 6.0)

Nowadays, clean water is a pressing issue all over the globe because it is the basic requirement of every home. It is considered to have a free water supply in every home. I completely agree with this argument because clean water has several benefits.

First of all, it is widely acknowledged that water is the main component of the life. Without water, survival of life is impossible. Water plays a pivotal role in the general health of the people. What I mean by this is that most of the diseases are the direct consequences of drinking the polluted water. For example, drinking water with huge amount of bacteria and acids. It severly affects the digestive system and people engage in different types of disorders. If every home has an access to clean water, then it will be possible to get rid of most diseases.

Secondly, access of water supply in homes saves a sufficient amount of time. For example, in residential areas, water plants are far away from the homes. So, some people go to the water plants for drinking clean water. Meanwhile, others drink unhygenic water of waterpumps. It will give rise to the financial crises for the effected people. To be more precise, drinking contaminated water undeniably affects the body. People may be engage in several types of fever. For example, typhoid or hepatitis etc. So, it consumes a lot of money in hospitals for the treatment. If government takes some precautions for the installation of the water supply in every home, then it will be beneficial for people, both financially and physcially.

On the other hand, some people disagree with this argument because some people earn their livelihood by selling the hygenic water. So, if every home has an access to clean water, then it will affects the business of some people.

In conclusion, although it is considered to install water supply in every home due to significant benefits of health and finances. Personally, I believe that the advantages of water supply easily outweigh any negatives.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you agree that homes should receive clean water, and you support this with relevant points about health and the costs of illness. The examples of polluted water causing digestive problems and diseases such as typhoid help explain the health argument. You also address a possible disadvantage by noting the effect on water sellers. However, the second main point shifts between saving time, access to water plants, and medical expenses, so its central claim is not fully developed. The counterargument is also brief and is not answered directly. To strengthen the response, explain how free household supply would be funded and why this benefit should outweigh the impact on sellers, while developing each main reason in a more focused way.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two supporting paragraphs, a counterargument, and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “First of all,” “Secondly,” and “On the other hand” make the overall progression easy to follow. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical, and the second body paragraph moves from time-saving to water sources, financial hardship, disease, and treatment costs without clearly linking these as one argument. Some references are also unclear, as in “It will give rise to the financial crises for the effected people,” where the cause and meaning are difficult to identify. Use fewer formulaic transitions and make each paragraph centre on one claim, with explicit links between the claim, explanation, and example.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a reasonable range of topic vocabulary, including “polluted water,” “digestive system,” “contaminated water,” and “installation,” which helps communicate the subject. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “pivotal role” and “undeniably affects.” However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, including “the main component of the life,” “access of water supply,” and “financial crises” where financial hardship or costs seems intended. Spelling errors such as “severly,” “unhygenic,” “effected,” and “physcially” also reduce accuracy. Aim for precise, natural combinations and check spelling carefully; this will make your ideas clearer without requiring more elaborate vocabulary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including conditional structures such as “If every home has an access to clean water, then it will be possible…” and clauses introduced by “because” and “although.” Meaning is generally understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “it will affects the business” has an incorrect verb form, while “People may be engage” needs a different verb construction. Articles and agreement are also inconsistent in phrases such as “the main component of the life” and “some people earn their livelihood.” The final sentence beginning “although it is considered to install” is not grammatically complete as written. Review verb patterns, articles, and sentence completeness, while retaining your attempts at complex structures.
