Student answer (Band 5.5)
Clean water is an essential human need, which is important for staying alive. All houses do need water supply , But weather they should be free of cost or not that is quite debatable.
I do beleive that clean water is a right of every human but getting unlimited water for free will just create wastage and should be avoided.
Giving water out for free will make people ungratefull of it and the overall wastage will be increased as when people loose the value of certin thing they do get mishandled and wasted, So mechanism should be created where a quota of some amount of water should be free for all.
as by this people will get the water for free but if thay want to use more of it they have to pay extra money.
Providing water for free is also important as not many people can spare more money in this economy just for water, as it is already difficult for people to survive and bearly make the ends meet from there income and also as the goverment is taking taxes from people they do need to provide these basic facilaties to people for free, but in a right way so nothing should be wasted.
Nevertheless water should be provided free of cost but in quota basis so it shouldn't be wasted and along people do get the water for free to spend ther lives, normally goverment should think about that and create a mechanism to make a proper structure and people do get the facalities from there tax money.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You give a clear, relevant position: clean water should be free up to a quota, while additional use should be charged. This directly addresses whether every home should receive water without charge, and you support your view with concerns about waste, affordability, and the role of taxes. The proposal to provide a basic amount free is a useful qualification rather than a simple yes-or-no answer. However, some ideas are asserted more than explained. For example, you say free water would make people “ungratefull” and increase waste, but do not give a concrete example or explain how a quota would be set and enforced. Develop these points with a specific illustration and clarify why your system is fair and practical.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has an identifiable progression: it introduces the issue, presents the concern about waste, explains the case for free provision, and concludes with the quota-based position. Linking expressions such as “Nevertheless” and “as” help show relationships between ideas. However, the middle section is difficult to follow because several points are packed into long sentences, and the paragraphing does not clearly separate the argument about waste from affordability and government responsibility. Some links are also repetitive or awkward, particularly the repeated use of “as” and the final sentence’s sequence of ideas. Use distinct paragraphs for each main reason, and make each paragraph develop one point in a clear order.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “basic human right,” “quota,” “wastage,” “taxes,” and “mechanism,” and your meaning is generally understandable. There is some attempt to express abstract ideas about public provision and responsible use. However, spelling errors and imprecise or unnatural combinations are noticeable, such as “ungratefull,” “certin thing,” “proper structure,” and “facalities.” Phrases such as “free of cost” and “spare more money” are understandable but less natural in this context. Aim for accurate spelling and more precise collocations, for example, “a basic allowance of water” and “charge for consumption above that limit.” This would make the argument clearer and more fluent.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences with reasons and conditions, including the idea that households should receive a free quota but pay for additional use. This shows some range, but control is uneven: several long sentences contain faulty clause connections, and punctuation makes the relationships between ideas unclear. For instance, “Giving water out for free will make people … as when people …” combines multiple clauses without clear structure, while “All houses do need water supply” has an article and sentence-boundary problem. There are also errors in agreement and sentence construction, such as “they do need to provide.” Break complex ideas into shorter sentences, check articles and subject–verb agreement, and use commas and full stops to mark clause boundaries.
