Student answer (Band 6.0)
Clean water is a basic necessity that every human should have and every home should have a water supply that is free of cost. I totally agree with this statement because it would be harsh to charge humans to provide clean water.
The most necessary element of a person's life is health and water plays an important role in a person's health. A person can get a lot of diseases if he is not provided with clean water and it can seriously affect his health. Some people use tap water and it slowly does damage to them without them knowing. 70% of a human's body is made of water and if a person is not drinking clean water then 70% of his body is effected at some point. That's the reason why clean water is a basic human right.
Every home should have a water supply free of cost because some people are not rich enough to spend their money on water and if the water supply will cost something, they will just keep drinking the tap water. I believe that nobody deserves to get sick because they don't have money. People can get sick but drinking shouldn't be one of the causes. Every person drinks more than 5 glasses of water daily and if the water is not free of germs, it can cost them much more. I think that government of every country should provide their people with a source of clean water that is free of charge.
In conclusion, clean water prevents people from getting particular diseases and the access to it is everyone' right. It should be free of cost so that all of the people can get benefit from it.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear from the opening: you agree that clean water should be free, and you return to this view in the conclusion. You give relevant reasons, especially the health risks of unsafe water and the financial difficulty some people face. However, the health argument is repeated more than it is developed, and claims such as “70% of a human’s body is made of water” do not fully explain how free household provision would address the problem. The point about people choosing tap water is also unclear, since tap water may itself be clean. Develop each reason with a precise explanation or example, and clarify what kind of water supply should be free. The response meets the stated length requirement; nine words copied from the prompt were not counted.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction states your view, two body paragraphs present reasons, and a conclusion restates your position. Ideas generally progress from health to affordability, and linking phrases such as “because,” “That’s the reason,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the argument. At times, however, connections are repetitive or not fully clear. For example, the shift from “some people use tap water” to the claim that it causes damage is abrupt, and “if the water supply will cost something, they will just keep drinking the tap water” leaves the relationship between paid and clean water uncertain. Use clearer references and transitions, and organise each paragraph around one main point followed by explanation and an example.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
Your vocabulary is sufficient to communicate the main argument, with relevant terms such as “basic human right,” “diseases,” “water supply,” and “free of charge.” The meaning is generally understandable, but the range is limited and several expressions are repetitive or imprecise. “Free of cost” appears more than once, while “a lot of diseases” and “does damage to them” are broad, informal choices that weaken precision. There are also word-form or spelling issues, including “effected” where “affected” is intended, and “everyone’ right.” To improve, use more specific language for water quality, health consequences, and affordability, and vary repeated phrases while keeping collocations natural.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including conditional clauses such as “if a person is not drinking clean water” and “if the water supply will cost something.” Most sentences communicate the intended meaning, and errors rarely prevent understanding. Some grammatical choices are inaccurate, however: in a future conditional, use “if the water supply costs something” rather than “if … will cost”; “everyone’ right” needs the possessive form “everyone’s right”; and “70% of a human’s body is made of water” would be clearer as “70% of the human body is water.” There are also long sentences joined with “and” that would benefit from clearer punctuation or restructuring. Practise accurate conditional forms and possessives while extending sentence variety.
