Student answer (Band 5.5)

Having clean water supply is a basic human right. It is often argued that every individual should have right to get the water free of cost. I believe that, it should be free for all human beings because it is natural resource coming from nature and majority of population can not afford to pay the fee.

The primary reason why i agree with the view is that water is a natual resouce coming from glaciers, ponds, stream and vast portion in the world contains water which is approximately 70%. It will be not justified for people to allocate charges for supplying water.

For example,In Pakistan, Excessive number of water resources are there such as in the kashmir valley, its raining almost everyday, we do not have enough dam to store the water coming from rain or glacier.Officials should provide water supply free of cost rather than applying taxes or bills on it because of excessive amount of water.

The second reason why i agree with free availablity of water for people is that they are not well enogh to pay such bills. There is inflation globallly, majority of individals are. having low wages and its difficult for them to running their home,For example,in. Pakistan, enemplyemt rate is almost 30% and inflation is rising daily.current inflation reached to almost 11%.as a result people are harly mange three times meal daily they have difficulties to live normal live it will be imposisble for them to pay water bills.i think governent should not give mich burdennt to thery people by applying extra bills on them

In conclusion,There should no fee for water supply as its natual resource, excessively availbe globally and majoprity of the pople ation are middle class.they harly manage their daily expensed ,expose water will on them woild ot befair enoghg.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you agree that households should receive water without charge, and you give two relevant reasons—water is a natural resource and many people cannot afford bills. The Pakistan examples also help connect your claims to a real context. However, the first argument relies on the amount of water in the world and rainfall without explaining how this makes treated, safely delivered household water cost-free. The affordability point is relevant but would be stronger with clearer explanation of how free provision could be funded or targeted. Develop these ideas more fully and acknowledge that treatment and distribution have costs, then explain why access should still be free.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting separate reasons, and a conclusion. Signposting such as “The primary reason,” “The second reason,” and “In conclusion” makes the overall progression easy to follow. Within the body paragraphs, however, several ideas are crowded together, particularly the discussion of unemployment, inflation, food costs, and water bills. Some transitions are abrupt, and the examples are not always clearly separated from the claims they support. Use one main point per paragraph, organise each as claim, explanation, and example, and use punctuation to mark sentence boundaries. This would make the existing organisation more coherent and cohesion less mechanical.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “basic human right,” “natural resource,” “inflation,” and “water supply,” and you attempt more specific terms such as “glaciers” and “taxes.” However, the range is limited and several spelling and word-choice errors make parts difficult to understand, for example “natual resouce,” “availablity,” “enemplyemt,” and “harly mange.” Some phrases are also unnatural, such as “allocate charges for supplying water” and “expose water will on them.” Choose common, accurate collocations before attempting more elaborate wording: for instance, “charge households for water” and “place an extra burden on people.” Careful proofreading and a wider set of precise terms would improve clarity.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including explanations with “because” and examples introduced by “For example.” The main ideas can generally be followed, but errors in sentence construction and punctuation sometimes make the relationships between ideas unclear. For instance, “It will be not justified for people to allocate charges” has an awkward verb pattern, while the long sentence beginning “as a result people are…” runs several clauses together without clear boundaries. There are also errors with articles and sentence openings, as in “should have right” and lowercase “i.” Practise building accurate complex sentences, use full stops to separate complete ideas, and check article use and subject–verb patterns.
