Student answer (Band 5.5)
Every citizen has some basic rights, which must be given to him by the state. It includes safety, freedom, shelter and food. These basic human rights exist in almost every country . Clean water is one ot them. As clean water is associated with hygiene and nourishment, it is most crucial for all of us. It is basically overlooked because one thinks that it is not that serious matter, but oonce you dwell and look into it more closely , it is a bigger issue than one think it is. Deprivation of clean water abrupts the smooth functioning of society. For example, consider drinking aspect of it. If people are deprived of clean water and are forced to consume dirty water which contain many diseases and whatnot, the number of diseases in that area will be higher. Apart from that, the kids would have weak immune system and prone to many diseases, which as a result will affect their studies as well. These reasons amplify when overall observation is made about country's development. Now one would say that there is an alternative in the shape of bottled water, but that solution comes literally at a price. and the poor don't have luxury of affording that.most of teh people in our country are poor and financially from below average families. That's why government must prioritize the supply of clean water to every houshold free and without any difficulty. And now it is easy as government should install solar panels and tubewells where conventional electricity is difficult to reach. This will not only eradicate health isuues but also strengthen the development oppurtunities

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear: you support providing clean water to every household free of charge, and you give relevant reasons linked to health, children’s wellbeing and national development. The example of people being forced to drink contaminated water helps explain the consequences, while the point about bottled water recognises a possible alternative and its cost. However, some ideas are asserted rather than fully developed. For instance, the link between children’s health and their studies is mentioned but not explained, and the proposal to use solar panels and tubewells would benefit from showing how this would ensure reliable access for all homes. Develop these points with clearer explanation or a specific example to make the argument more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response follows a generally understandable line of argument, moving from the importance of clean water to its health effects, the cost of bottled water and a government solution. Connectors such as “For example,” “Apart from that” and “That’s why” help signal relationships between ideas. However, the essay is presented as one long paragraph, so the main stages of the argument are not clearly separated. Some transitions are also abrupt: “Now one would say” introduces bottled water conversationally, and the move from this point to solar panels and tubewells is not fully explained. Use separate paragraphs for the introduction, supporting reasons and conclusion, and make the links between each claim and the next more explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “hygiene,” “nourishment,” “deprived,” “immune system” and “development opportunities,” which helps communicate the subject. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “prioritize the supply.” However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, including “abrupts the smooth functioning,” “overall observation,” and “financially from below average families.” Spelling errors such as “teh,” “houshold,” “isuues” and “oppurtunities” also reduce accuracy. Aim for precise, natural combinations—for example, “disrupts the smooth functioning of society” and “families with below-average incomes”—and proofread carefully for spelling.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including conditional reasoning in “If people are deprived of clean water … the number of diseases … will be higher” and a relative clause in “which as a result will affect their studies.” The main argument is generally understandable, but some grammatical errors remain. For example, “It includes safety” has an unclear pronoun reference, “water which contain” has subject–verb disagreement, and “the kids would have weak immune system and prone” is missing grammatical elements. Sentence boundaries and punctuation also need attention, as in “at a price. and the poor” and “affording that.most.” Check agreement, articles and complete sentence structure, and use punctuation to separate ideas consistently.
