Student answer (Band 5.5)
Clean water is very essential for a healthy life and clean water is also aa basic human right. "Therefore every home should have a water supply that is provided free of charge" i totally agree to this statement as there are many reasons involved with this statement.
The first major reason is clean water is a basic need for everyone many households have filed a case for cleaning of rivers as their water filter is also not able to clean the water and some bacteria are carried away through the filter also which harms the health of majority of citizens.
The second major reason is that many water filters are not working and filtering water which is also the root cause of many deficiencies and diseases which are caused due to shortage of clean water. In my locality there was aa boy of 8 years and their water filter was not working up to the mark
so they called the mechanic for repair he said he will come after 2 days. They managed to buy bottles of water for drinking but the child drank water from the filter and he suffered from Cholera which became the reason of his death.
Nowadays many people also live in slum areas and rural areas which do not have much funds so that they can install a water filter at thier house. To solve this problem government should distribute water filters for free which will result in access to clean water.
Overall, clean water should be provided by the government for free of charge which will enhance the quality of life and will improve their overall health with no health diseases.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear: you agree that households should receive clean water without charge, and you give relevant reasons concerning health, affordability, and access in rural and slum areas. The example of the child who contracted cholera supports the health argument, while the final paragraph offers a practical response. However, some points are not fully explained: the opening claim about households filing cases over river pollution is difficult to connect to free household supply, and the filter discussion repeats a similar point. The response addresses the question, but it would be stronger if you explained what “free” means in practice and developed the government’s responsibility and funding implications more fully.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two reason paragraphs, a paragraph about disadvantaged communities, and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “The first major reason,” “The second major reason,” and “Overall” help readers follow the main stages. However, the progression is somewhat mechanical, and the first two body paragraphs overlap by focusing on filters and health risks. Some links between ideas are unclear: the claim about filing a case over river cleaning does not lead smoothly to the point about bacteria passing through filters. Improve cohesion by grouping related points, using clearer references, and explaining how each example supports your position rather than relying mainly on numbered transitions.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “basic human right,” “shortage of clean water,” “rural areas,” and “quality of life,” so the main ideas are understandable. However, the range is limited and several expressions are repetitive or imprecise, particularly repeated references to “water filters” and “clean water.” Some collocations are unnatural, such as “very essential,” “deficiencies and diseases,” and “free of charge” after “for.” Spelling errors such as “thier” and “aa” also reduce accuracy. Aim for more precise terms for water access, treatment, and public provision, and check spelling and collocations during revision. This would make the argument clearer and more natural.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentences, and the reader can generally understand your position and examples. However, control is inconsistent, especially in long sentences that join several ideas without clear punctuation. For example, “The first major reason is clean water is a basic need for everyone many households…” needs a clause boundary and a clearer grammatical link. There are also errors in articles, agreement, and sentence construction, as in “there was aa boy of 8 years and their water filter,” and the quotation in the introduction is not integrated smoothly. Use full stops or conjunctions to separate ideas, and practise accurate complex sentences with clear subjects and verbs. More reliable sentence control would improve readability.
