Student answer (Band 5.5)

Clean water is a basic human right. Noone can live without having water so every home should have a water supply that provide water without charge. In my opinion, every home need to be a proper source of water to lead their life and it should be free of cost.

On the one hand, water is the essential part of our life. we can not do anything without water such as cooking, washing, drinking, showering and so on. In addition, having less water can create a lot of health disease and can impact on our regular activity. For example, having insufficient water may create urin infaction and digation problem. Therefore, it is crusial for everyone to have enough water to take and to do household work properly.

On the other hand, if we need to take it by paying, most of the people can not affort enough water. so, every house need a proper source of water from where they can collect water when they want without thinking obout cost. Moreover, government plays an vital role to continue this trend by enrolling purified water in different places. For instance, every governmental institute can supply water freely and can create different sceme to distributes tubewell so that people can take it and place it in their home. As a result, they may get enough water at home without worrying about charge.

In conclusion, for everyone clean water is the most important thing to lead life and stay healthy, so definitely it have to be free for every home.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear: you agree that households should receive clean water without charge, and you give relevant reasons about health, daily activities and affordability. The examples of cooking and drinking, and of government-provided water points and tubewells, help address the topic. However, several points are asserted rather than fully explained; for instance, the health effects are named but not developed, and the proposal about government schemes does not clarify how a reliable supply would reach every home. The response also falls one word short of the 250-word minimum: it contains 249 words, with eight words copied from the prompt excluded from the count. Develop the reasoning and support it with a more specific example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs signposted with “On the one hand” and “On the other hand,” and a conclusion. This makes the main position and the shift from water’s importance to affordability easy to follow. Some linking is mechanical, however, with repeated “so,” “therefore” and “as a result,” and the two body paragraphs do not develop a fully clear progression from reason to evidence. The reference in “continue this trend” is also unclear because no trend has been established. Use fewer formulaic connectors, make references explicit, and organise each paragraph around one reason followed by explanation and a concrete example.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “basic human right,” “insufficient water,” “purified water” and “household work.” However, the range is limited and several inaccurate spellings or word choices make the writing less precise, such as “urin infaction,” “digation problem,” “affort,” “obout” and “sceme.” Some phrases are also unnatural, including “enrolling purified water” and “distributes tubewell.” These errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your overall argument, but they are noticeable and sometimes require interpretation. Build accuracy by checking spelling and learning natural collocations for public water provision, affordability and health effects.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentences, including the conditional structure “if we need to take it by paying” and the result clause “so that people can take it.” This gives some variety, but control is inconsistent, and errors occur in basic agreement, articles and verb forms. For example, “every home need” should be “every home needs,” “a water supply that provide” should be “a water supply that provides,” and “it have to be free” should be “it has to be free.” There are also sentence-boundary and capitalisation problems, as in “we can not” after a full stop. Practise checking each sentence’s subject and verb, and use complex structures only when you can control them accurately.
