Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
Your position is clear from the introduction (“I firmly agree”) and conclusion, and you give two relevant reasons: clean water can protect health, and free provision can help low-income families. The examples about waterborne illness and filtration plants support these points, but the claims are brief and not fully explained; for instance, the statistic about diseases is not linked to a specific source or clarified. The response therefore addresses the question only partially, with ideas that remain limited and under-developed. It is also 15 words below the 250-word minimum; the eight words copied from the task prompt do not count toward the required length. Develop each reason with a clearer explanation or a specific, credible example, and add enough relevant discussion to meet the minimum.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting separate reasons, and a conclusion. Linking expressions such as “Moreover,” “Furthermore,” and “For instance” help signal additions and examples. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes repetitive or unclear. In the first body paragraph, several sentences repeat that clean water improves health and energy without showing how the ideas connect. The conclusion also repeats earlier points rather than drawing them together, and quotation marks around “In conclusion” are unnecessary. Use fewer, more precise transitions and organise each paragraph around one main claim, followed by explanation and evidence, so the argument develops more clearly.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “germs,” “low-income families,” “government-funded,” and “water filtration plants,” which helps communicate the subject. However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation, and spelling errors make parts of the response awkward or less clear. Examples include “achieve to clean water,” “water provided that is provided,” “save from many diseases,” and “the notation.” There are also spelling errors such as “weake” and “there” where “their” is intended. Aim for accurate, natural phrases rather than adding formal-sounding expressions. Learning collocations such as “access clean water,” “prevent waterborne diseases,” and “provide a free water supply” would make your argument clearer and more appropriate for an academic essay.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple sentences and longer conditional structures, such as “if they drink clean water” and “if the state provide them clean water free.” However, the range is limited, and frequent errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction sometimes make the meaning difficult to follow. For example, “diseases are occur” should use a single verb form, while “Clean water boost” and “clean water save” need subject–verb agreement. The sentence beginning “Furthermore, it will become be beneficial” also contains an incorrect verb construction. Practise checking each sentence for a clear subject and correctly formed verb, then build more accurate complex sentences using “because,” “which,” and “if.”
