Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0

You state a clear position—“I agree with this statement”—and give a relevant reason: people need clean water to live. However, the response addresses the issue only minimally. It does not explain why household water should be free, distinguish access to water from its price, or develop the point about health with a specific example. The claim that 97% of the Earth contains water does not establish that usable clean water is freely available. The response is also 97 words, well below the required 250 words; the nine words copied from the prompt were not counted. To develop the task, explain your reasoning, support it with a relevant example, and consider how free provision could be funded or managed.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

The response has a basic sequence: it introduces water as essential, then states agreement and gives a reason. This makes the general direction understandable. However, the ideas are not developed into a clear progression, and there is no paragraphing to separate the position, supporting reasons, and conclusion. The repeated point that the body cannot survive more than one or two days without water adds little new information. Also, beginning a sentence with “Because” leaves the reason loosely connected to the preceding statement. Organise the essay into paragraphs, use linking phrases to show how each reason supports your position, and ensure each sentence adds a distinct step to the argument.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use relevant basic vocabulary, including “basic need,” “clean water,” “human right,” and “serious” health consequences, so the central topic is clear. However, the range is narrow and several expressions are repetitive or imprecise, particularly the repeated reference to surviving only one or two days without water. “Every human have a water supply in their hometowns” does not express the task’s focus on every home receiving a supply, and “97% of the earth contains water” is an awkward formulation. There are also spelling and word-choice problems, such as “wather” and “drinking waters.” Build a wider set of accurate terms for access, affordability, public provision, and water scarcity, and check collocations and spelling.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

Your sentences are mostly short and communicate the main ideas, but the response shows limited structural variety and recurring errors in basic sentence construction. For example, “every human have” has incorrect subject–verb agreement, while “Because our 97% of the earth contains water” is not a complete, well-formed sentence. The opening also uses an unnecessary article in “The water is a basic need,” and spacing before punctuation is inconsistent. These issues make parts of the response awkward, although the overall meaning can generally be followed. Practise accurate simple sentences first, then add controlled complex structures using clauses such as “because” and “although”; check agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries when proofreading.
