Student answer (Band 6.0)
Every human being and household should have the right to obtain water, without any charge. I agree because water is essential for our daily living activities and without water supply, diseases would spread. Firstly, chores ranging from simple to Complex ones that we do daily require a generous amount of water that cannot be exchanged for any liquid element. Therefore, water is needed in every household. For Instance, cooking meals requires water to make food that we eat daily. We also need water for crops to grow and produce vegetables and fruits. We not only use water in our homes and gardens, but in public facilities where water is used bathrooms, restaurants and parks. This is how deeply water affects humans daily. Secondly, countries that do not enough water supply or limited access cannot shower daily which results in the spread of many diseases that result from poor hygiene. People who do not shower have irritation and bacteria spread to the sensitive areas in our bodies, such as the inguinal area, armpits and under the chest. Hair falling is a result of unwashed hair for multiple weeks as dandruff and oils accumulate and clog hair follicles, which weakens hair particles and causes strands to fall. For example, in countries of war, women argue that they need water to shower after their menstruation because their sensitive areas are more prone to bacterial buildup. To conclude, I believe that water is a simple human right, that everyone should have water available to them at any time without any cost because we use it daily in our homes and in public. Without water availability, our world would be more exposed to disease spread and bacteria.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear from the opening: you agree that households should receive water without charge, and the conclusion restates this view. You give relevant reasons, including water’s role in cooking and growing food, and the risk that poor access can affect hygiene. These examples show a sound response to the topic. However, the argument focuses mainly on why water is necessary, rather than explaining why the household supply should specifically be free. The discussion of hair loss and detailed body areas also takes space without strongly supporting the central claim, and the example about women in war-affected countries is not fully explained. Develop the affordability and responsibility aspects, and connect each example more directly to free provision.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two main points signalled by “Firstly” and “Secondly,” and a conclusion. This makes the overall line of argument understandable. However, progression within the body paragraphs is uneven. The first paragraph moves from household chores to crops and then public facilities, while the second shifts from limited water access to showering, hair loss, and menstruation; these details are not clearly grouped or linked back to the main claim. Some connections are mechanical, particularly the repeated use of “water” and the formulaic transitions. Use clearer topic sentences, keep each paragraph focused on one reason, and add explicit links explaining how each example supports free household access.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “water supply,” “public facilities,” “hygiene,” “bacterial buildup,” and “human right.” These choices help communicate the subject and show attempts to be specific. Some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, however, such as “liquid element,” “hair particles,” and “countries that do not enough water supply.” Capitalisation is also inconsistent in “Complex” and “Instance.” Repetition of “water” and “daily” limits flexibility, and some highly specific vocabulary about the body does not add much precision to the argument. Aim for natural collocations such as “access to a reliable water supply” and “waterborne diseases,” and choose examples that support your position directly.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a relative clause in “chores … that we do daily” and a conditional structure in “without water supply, diseases would spread.” Most of the meaning remains clear, but some grammatical errors and punctuation problems are noticeable. For example, “countries that do not enough water supply” is missing a verb, and “where water is used bathrooms” lacks a necessary preposition. The sentence beginning “People who do not shower…” also has an unclear construction, while the comma in “I believe that water is a simple human right, that everyone…” incorrectly separates the clause. Review verb patterns, articles and prepositions, and break up long sentences when several ideas are being joined.
