Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 2.5
The response introduces relevant context by noting that people need water for drinking and daily activities, and that industrial processes also depend on it. However, it stops before answering the central question: there is no clear agreement or disagreement about whether every household should receive water free of charge, and no reasons or examples are developed to support a position. The point about pollution could have led to an argument about the cost and responsibility of providing clean water, but it is left unfinished. The response is also substantially below the required minimum: it contains 79 words, with 9 words copied from the prompt excluded from the count. To improve, state your position directly and develop at least two relevant reasons with examples.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.5
The ideas begin in a broadly understandable order, moving from water’s importance to pollution, and the opening sentence establishes the topic. There is also an attempt to connect ideas with phrases such as “With the advancement” and “if we see.” However, the response ends abruptly at “there are very few lands,” so there is no completed line of reasoning or conclusion. Several points are placed together without clear links, and the opening fact about the proportion of water and land is not connected to the question of free household supply. Organise the essay into an introduction, developed body paragraphs, and a conclusion; use clear transitions to show how each reason supports your position.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “clean water,” “industrial processes,” “water pollution,” and “urbanisation,” which helps communicate the general subject. There is also an attempt to use more formal language in “remarkably.” However, several expressions are imprecise or unnatural, such as “big deal,” “higher level,” and “On our planet earth 3 parts is water.” The vocabulary range is not yet sufficient to express a developed argument about access, cost, and public provision, partly because the response is very short. Aim for precise collocations and topic-specific terms, such as “water supply,” “treatment costs,” and “government-funded provision,” and check spelling and capitalisation, including “Earth.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response includes both simple statements and a longer sentence beginning “With the advancement in the industrial sector,” showing an attempt to vary sentence structure. The main ideas are generally understandable, but errors in sentence construction and punctuation are noticeable. For example, “On our planet earth 3 parts is water and 1 part is land” has incorrect subject–verb agreement and an awkward structure; “etc. On” also needs a space and clearer sentence punctuation. The phrase “all human beings need water for drinking, and daily life activities” would be clearer with parallel phrasing. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries, then use a wider range of correctly controlled complex sentences to explain and support your reasons.
