Student answer (Band 6.0)
The water is the essential part of our daily lives, therefore drinking clean and purified water is primary right of every individual. Many people in soceity supports this idea that every household should have a free water supply scheme while critics argue that the household should charged for their water consumption. From my perspective, I partially agree with both ideas although free water supply schemes can save individuals from drinking contaminant water, it has some drawbacks.
To begin with, the water is a basic need of every living thing, which are used for various purposes such as drinking, cleaning and for farming, however many people in developing countries are using and consuming contaminant water without any treatment. So many people are raising this issue, that governments should provide clean water to every citizen otherwise many people will suffer from different types of the diseases like diarrhea and kidney infections. The contaminanted water with high amount of the totally dissoved salts may cause salination in soil which will reduce the crops germination and yield.
Furthermore, the critics against the free water schemes argue that it will increase the burden on taxpayers to keep these schemes functioning as because we cannot reach in every area. Subsequently, the importance of water will be reduced in the eyes of many individuals and households so it will be wasted or overly consumed in some parts of world. In contrast, they emphasis that if every household will be charged not a single drop water will be wasted.
In conclusion, the humanity cannot survive without water, this is most essential part of our daily lives. The government should regulate laws and provide clean water to low income households while the financially strong families should be charged. Additionally to teach disciplane and importance of this essential resource government should fix a certain creteria about the volume of water to each household on every single day.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your response addresses the question and presents a clear compromise: free clean water for low-income households, with charges for financially stronger families. You support the need for access by referring to disease and agricultural damage from contaminated water, and you consider the opposing concern that free provision could increase taxpayer costs and encourage waste. This covers the main issue, but the position is only partly aligned with the prompt’s broad proposal that every home receive water free of charge. Some points, especially the claim that charging means “not a single drop” will be wasted, are asserted rather than explained. To strengthen the response, clarify the principles behind your compromise and develop one or two examples showing how a fair supply and pricing system could work.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting different considerations, and a conclusion that states your proposed policy. Linking expressions such as “To begin with,” “Furthermore,” and “In conclusion” help signal the stages of the argument. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear: “although” in the introduction joins ideas awkwardly, and “In contrast” does not clearly show how the following claim contrasts with the preceding point. The second body paragraph also moves quickly from taxpayer costs to access difficulties, then to waste, without fully explaining the links. Use clearer topic sentences and connect each consequence explicitly to your argument; this would make the progression more consistently logical.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “basic need,” “taxpayers,” “contaminated water,” “soil,” and “crops germination and yield.” These choices allow you to discuss health, public spending, and agriculture rather than relying only on general terms. There are also attempts at more specific language, such as “totally dissolved salts,” though some expressions are inaccurate or unnatural, including “free water supply schemes,” “contaminant water,” and “the importance of water will be reduced in the eyes” of households. Spelling errors such as “soceity,” “contaminanted,” and “disciplane” also affect accuracy. Aim for more natural collocations and check spelling and word forms carefully, while retaining the relevant topic vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including clauses with “although,” “while,” and “which,” and the overall meaning is generally understandable. However, some sentence structures are not controlled accurately. For example, “Many people in soceity supports” has a subject–verb agreement problem, while “the household should charged” is missing a verb form. The opening sentence joins two independent ideas with a comma, and the long sentence beginning “To begin with” combines several clauses in a way that makes the relationships difficult to follow. There are also errors with articles and plurals, as in “a primary right” and “different types of the diseases.” Practise accurate clause boundaries and verb patterns, then proofread agreement and articles.
