Student answer (Band 6.0)

Clean water is one of the basic human needs and governments should provide a clean water supply for every citizen to live a better life. Even though it is a basic human right, it is practically impossible solution to provide water free of charge. I totally diagree with this statement of every home should have a water supply that is provided free of charge.

Governments' responsibility is to ensure people's quality of life by providing all basic human needs. Even though they are not free, they should provide them on time. When considering water, it is really difficult task to provide a free water supply to every citizen, because the economy of the country can be badly affected. If governments provide a free water supply to every residence, they have to undergo economic problems. For instance, water is a very limited natural resource in many countries sch as gulf-regional countries. Most of the time, they have to import water from other countries and do excavations to search for water resources. Those are exceptionaly costly methods. Moreover, purifying already used-water methods are an expensive and time-consuming. If governments provide water freely, they have to bear the all expenses and if they give water freely. As a result, they will have to undergo economy drowbacks.

Furthermore, if water supply freely, individulas may not be able to understand the value and limitation of the water resources. Consequently, water consumption can be increased unexpetional range, because citizens do not feel the cost of water purifying methods. If they have to spend own money for water consumption, they will inderstand it. Additionally, as a result people learn to use water effectively and reduce excessive consumption, because no one want to pay more water bills.

In counclusion, I think that government's responsibility is to provide all human basic needs including water. When it comes to water, this facility should provide with cost.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you disagree that household water should be free, while accepting that governments must ensure access to it. You support this with relevant points about the cost of importing and treating water, and the risk that free provision could encourage waste. However, the discussion is unevenly developed. The examples about Gulf-region countries help explain supply costs, but the claim that free water would cause economic problems is broad and would benefit from a clearer explanation of how this affects public finances or other services. The point about conservation is relevant but could be supported with a specific example or a distinction between essential household use and excessive use. The response addresses the question, but some ideas need fuller development. The response meets the required length; 13 words copied from the task prompt were not counted.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction states your view, two body paragraphs present reasons, and the conclusion restates your position. Linking expressions such as “Furthermore,” “For instance,” and “As a result” help signal the relationship between ideas. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical, and some connections are unclear. In the first body paragraph, “If governments provide water freely” is repeated, and the sentence beginning “If governments provide water freely, they have to bear…” is followed by an incomplete repetition of the same idea. The shift from the costs of water provision to the effect on consumption is logical, but the links within each point could be smoother. Use pronouns and transitions carefully, and remove repeated or unfinished clauses to make the progression easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of topic vocabulary, including “natural resource,” “import,” “purifying,” “water consumption,” and “excessive consumption.” These choices make your main arguments understandable and show attempts to use language beyond basic everyday terms. However, several spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision, such as “diagree,” “exceptionaly,” “unexpetional,” and “economy drowbacks.” Some phrases are also unnatural or unclear, including “undergo economic problems,” “purifying already used-water methods,” and “pay more water bills.” Aim for accurate collocations and check spelling carefully; this would make your argument sound more natural and precise. The range is adequate for the topic, but control of less familiar expressions is inconsistent.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including conditional structures such as “If governments provide a free water supply…” and a reason clause introduced by “because.” This gives the essay some structural variety, and the main meaning is generally understandable. Some grammatical errors remain, however. For example, “it is practically impossible solution” needs an article, while “if water supply freely” is missing a verb construction. In “they have to bear the all expenses,” the article placement is incorrect, and “this facility should provide with cost” lacks a clear subject and passive form. There are also some problems with sentence boundaries and repeated clauses. Review articles, verb forms, and complete sentence structure, while continuing to use complex sentences.
