Student answer (Band 6.0)

Every people should get the access to fresh water as it is considered to be a basic human right. Therefore, many people believe that Government should provide water supply at free of cost to all he houses. I partly agree with this view because although water supply is a necessity, it should not be a fully free of charge.

On the one hand, no one can undeny the importance of clean water in our daily life. Water is the part and parcel of our day to day life. We need water in our daily tasks such as for drinking, cooking, washing, and cleaning. So, it must be necessary for every home should have clean water supply. Without a water supply, peoples' lives may be interrupted. Also, it is essential that the supplied water should be clean. Polluted water can cause many diseases such as cholera. typhoid, scene cancer, and diarrhoea. These diseases also lead people to death. Thus, the Government should provide purified water line.

On the other hand, people argue that supplying of water should be free. There will be some difficulties if this happen. Firstly, it is very challenging for the Government to provide free water supply to all the houses. As it will need a subtantial amount which may become a burden for the authority. Also, if the state spend much on this issue, other necessary constructions or issues may be neglected. Furthermore, if people get the water supply at free, they will not value it. They may waste water in unnecessary reasons such as they may leave the water tap open or close tap loosely.

In my opinion, to prevent deathful diseases Government should take a step for providing clean water supplu to evey home. However, it should not be done at free of cost. The authority should collect half of the total cost from the house owners.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear: you partly agree that homes should receive clean water, but argue that households should contribute to its cost. You address both the importance of access and reasons against making supply entirely free, with relevant examples such as waterborne diseases and possible waste. This meets the task well. However, some points are asserted rather than fully explained: for example, the claim that free supply would lead people to waste water would be stronger with a brief explanation or example. The final proposal that homeowners pay half the cost is specific, but its fairness or practicality is not discussed. Developing these points and linking them more directly to your position would make the response more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction states your position, two body paragraphs present contrasting considerations, and the conclusion restates your view. The signposts “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In my opinion” make the progression easy to follow, and the examples generally appear in relevant places. To make the organisation more polished, avoid relying so heavily on formulaic transitions and connect related ideas more smoothly. For instance, the discussion of clean water’s health benefits could lead more directly into the government’s responsibility to provide it. Some links between sentences are abrupt, and the final recommendation appears suddenly; introduce the cost-sharing idea earlier or explain how it follows from the preceding argument.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “basic human right,” “purified water,” “substantial amount,” and “burden.” These choices show an attempt to use more specific language, but inaccurate word forms, spelling, and collocations are noticeable and sometimes make the reader pause. Examples include “undeny,” “scene cancer,” “deathful diseases,” and “at free of cost”; “water supply” is also repeated frequently. Aim for accurate, natural combinations rather than memorised expressions, and check spelling carefully. A wider set of precise terms for access, treatment, public spending, and conservation would help you express the argument more flexibly while keeping the meaning clear.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “although,” “because,” and “if,” and most of the argument remains understandable. However, errors in sentence construction and grammatical forms recur. For example, “it must be necessary for every home should have” combines incompatible structures; write “every home must have” or “it is necessary for every home to have.” In “if the state spend much,” the subject and verb do not agree, and “people’s lives may be interrupted” uses an awkward grammatical pattern for the intended meaning. Review articles, agreement, infinitive patterns, and sentence boundaries; also use a comma or semicolon rather than a full stop between “cholera” and the following disease list. More consistently accurate complex sentences would strengthen control.
