Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is often argued that access to clean water is a basic human right. Therefore water supply in home should be free of cost. I disgree that water should be free for household, although I believe the government should support low-income group. Authorities should implement a blended approach in offering support or subsidised water to those who can not afford it.
One major reason attributed to this opinion is that individuals develop mindset that this resource is free of charge, so they can waste it, this can lead to shortage in resource for the future generation. Furthermore, elite people will also misuse this facility even though they can afford to pay for this facility.
Although, access to water offers fair opportunity to all the individuals, excessive utilization of natural resources can lead to reduction in its value. As a result, people may waste water, causing a major threat on the natural resource. This can lead to shortage of water supply in the long run. For instance, the Delhi government has implemented the policy which offers free electricity supply in few part of the Delhi. Initially, authorities faced no major concern alongside, people were enjoying this huge benefit. However, later on this policy has created burden on the government funds as well as deplition of the energy sources. If such kind of policy is implemented in case of water supply, we may face the similar issue in this case as well.
In conclusion, access to water is essential, therefore government needs to set up a policy considering in mind to support the low-income group by providing free support or subsidised water facility to the individuals who needed it the most.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear: you disagree with making household water universally free, while supporting help for people on low incomes. You address the central issue and give reasons, including the risk of waste and pressure on public funds, with the Delhi electricity example. However, the argument is not developed evenly. The claim that free water would encourage waste is asserted rather than supported with a specific explanation or evidence, and the electricity comparison does not fully establish that water provision would have the same effects. The conclusion restates your proposed targeted support but could clarify how a basic affordable supply would protect the right to water. Develop each reason more precisely and connect examples directly to your position.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction states your view, the body presents reasons and an example, and the conclusion returns to targeted assistance. Linking expressions such as “Furthermore,” “As a result,” and “For instance” help show relationships between ideas. However, progression within the body is sometimes repetitive: the risk of waste and future shortages is stated several times without adding much new explanation. The transition beginning “Although” does not clearly contrast with the preceding point, and “this facility” has an unclear reference. Organise the body around distinct reasons, use each paragraph to extend one point, and make references explicit so the reader can follow the argument more smoothly.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range for the topic, including terms such as “low-income group,” “subsidised water,” “natural resources,” and “government funds.” These choices communicate the main ideas, and you attempt some more formal vocabulary. However, several word-choice and collocation problems reduce precision, including “free of cost,” “excessive utilization … can lead to reduction in its value,” and “deplition of the energy sources.” Some expressions are also repeated, particularly “facility” and “shortage.” Aim for more natural topic-specific phrasing and check spelling and word forms. For example, describe water as “provided free of charge,” and explain that overuse can “deplete water reserves” rather than reduce a resource’s value.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including a conditional structure in “If such kind of policy is implemented … we may face the similar issue.” Most of the meaning remains understandable, but some errors in articles, agreement, and sentence construction are noticeable. Examples include “water supply in home,” “low-income group,” and “in few part of the Delhi”; these need more accurate article, number, and agreement choices. The sentence beginning “One major reason … is that” also joins two independent ideas with a comma, creating a run-on. Review sentence boundaries and check articles and singular/plural forms, while continuing to use complex structures with clearer control.
