Student answer (Band 5.0)

Clean water has become a basic human right and, everyone can access to clean water. Consequently, every home should be required a water supply that is provided with free of cost due to its benefits for both individuals and society. I strongly agree that clean water is beneficial for human health because it help the food for digestion and break down of food.

One key reason is that clean water is needed for drinking purpose and the survival of humans. Clean water could used for cooked food. The Earth has plenty of water at 97% in the form of oceans, glaciers, rivers and lakes. While, this water is not used for drinking purpose due to several harmful bacteria are present and, this caused common diseased like, diarrhea, and approximately 1% is used for drinking purpose. Therefore, the water cleaning plants are installed in the country to cleaning the water, so the cost of this water is very high and people cannot afford this water. As a result, government should take an action in this companies and provided the water free of cost to prevent the pupils for dangerous diseased.

In addition, provided a clean water free of cost could not manage the government budget and people faced several taxes. However, it is not possible for government to provided a clean water free of cost. In contrast, government could removed the taxes in the water cleaning companies so the cheap clean water is possible to reached the poor people.

In conclusion, I firmly believe that supply of clean water should be required in our daily need. Clean water will be provided free of cost is not possible so, Government can provided the cheap water and enable them to make a positive difference in their community

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You give a position, first agreeing that clean water is important and later arguing that free provision is not possible, so the response does address the central issue. However, this shift leaves your answer to “Do you agree or disagree?” unclear: the conclusion supports cheap water rather than free water. The reasons are relevant, including health risks from contaminated water and the cost of treatment, but they are not consistently explained or supported. For example, the claim that water helps digestion is introduced but not developed, and the figures about the Earth’s water supply are not clearly connected to the proposal. State one consistent position and explain how each reason supports it, using a specific example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a recognisable introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and signposts such as “One key reason,” “In addition” and “In conclusion” help identify the stages. However, the progression between ideas is not always clear. The first body paragraph moves from drinking and cooking to global water proportions, treatment costs and government action without clearly linking each point. The second paragraph begins with the difficulty of free provision, but “However” and “In contrast” do not establish a clear relationship between the claims. Some linking phrases are repeated or used mechanically. Organise each body paragraph around one main reason, then explain and illustrate it before moving to the next point.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “basic human right,” “harmful bacteria,” “government budget” and “positive difference.” There is also some attempt to use more formal expressions, such as “provided free of cost.” However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, which sometimes makes the intended meaning less clear: “required a water supply,” “cooked food,” “common diseased” and “prevent the pupils for dangerous diseased.” The repeated use of “clean water,” “free of cost” and “government” also limits variety. Build a more precise set of topic phrases and check whether words naturally combine; for example, use “water treatment plants” and “waterborne diseases.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including a cause-and-effect structure beginning “Therefore” and a contrast introduced by “However.” Nevertheless, errors occur frequently in verb forms, agreement, articles and sentence construction, and some make the message difficult to follow. Examples include “everyone can access to clean water,” “it help,” “Clean water could used,” and “government should take an action … and provided.” The opening also joins clauses awkwardly with a comma before “and,” while several sentences use commas where a full stop or clearer clause structure is needed. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement and modal verb patterns, then build longer sentences from correctly formed clauses.
