Student answer (Band 4.5)

Well as for me i agree.Because i think it's quite important for every human to have a clean water, it's one of the human right, there are some people that are poor and cannot afford food or clean water. To stay alive you have to drink water! it's significant for the human body and orgins and energy. to prove the point. Some of african kids and adult can't afford even clothes to affored clean water, there are some humans drink from the sea even tho it's so salty they still do it! and why? because they are poor. Is that even fair? not just water there are alot of things that should be free or atleast cheaper. In summer the human body gets thirsty very fast because of the weather, so it needs a more amount of water than the other seasons, but still some people can't afford it.Well from my way is when i want to shower and then i feel that the water is so so so cold, then i remember that i have to pay for the water. But why paying for something that is everywhere? the sea,the river, etc. At the end we are all humans that needs alot of things to survive, water should have been free from the start, if you didn't drink water for just 3 days you'll die or get sick, there are some people that got cancer beacuse of not drinking enough water. So yes i agree very much that clean water should be free of charged

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

Your position is clear: you agree that clean water should be free, and you give relevant reasons, including poverty and water’s importance for survival. The examples about people drinking seawater and struggling to afford basic necessities show an attempt to support your view. However, the response addresses the issue only partially because it does not explain how a free household supply could be provided or consider costs, conservation, or other practical concerns. Some claims, such as people getting cancer from not drinking enough water, are not explained and weaken the argument. Develop fewer points more carefully, using accurate examples and explaining how each supports your position.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

The response generally stays on the topic, and phrases such as “because” and “at the end” signal some relationships between ideas. However, the ideas are not arranged into clear paragraphs, so the reader has to follow a long, largely continuous sequence of points. Several thoughts are joined with full stops or commas in ways that make the progression difficult to track, and the repeated rhetorical questions interrupt the argument. For example, the move from poverty to summer thirst, then to your shower, is not clearly signposted. Organise the essay into an introduction, focused body paragraphs and a conclusion, with each paragraph developing one main reason and clear links between them.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use basic vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “clean water,” “poor,” “survive” and “human body,” and the reader can understand your main position. However, the range is limited and several words or phrases are repeated, particularly “water,” “people” and “free.” Some choices are inaccurate or informal, such as “a more amount of water,” “affored clean water” and “so so so cold”; spelling errors such as “orgins” and “beacuse” also reduce control. Aim for more precise topic vocabulary and a suitably formal tone. For instance, describe access to water as a “basic necessity” and explain whether households can “afford water bills” rather than repeating general references to being poor.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt to express reasons and consequences, including with “because” and “if,” and the main message is usually understandable. However, the range of sentence structures is limited, and attempts to connect several ideas often produce faulty or incomplete sentences. Examples include “Well as for me i agree.Because i think…” and “At the end we are all humans that needs…”. There are frequent problems with sentence boundaries, capitalisation, articles, agreement and punctuation, as in “a clean water” and “humans that needs.” These errors sometimes make the reader work to follow the argument. Practise writing complete sentences, checking subject–verb agreement, and using full stops to separate distinct ideas.
