Student answer (Band 5.5)
There is no doubt that access to clean water is basic human right and it is need in every house. Therefore every home should have a water supply that is provided free of cost. From my perspective, water is basic need for living, so i agree that water should be provided free of cost. In following paragraph, I will explain that government should provide water free of cost but also on the other hand i will elaborate that the cleaning process and supply is expensive.
On the one hand, access to clean water is a basic human right and for this purpose government should take necessary steps to provide water supply. There is urgent need to supply clean water where water is not ultimately clean and and these areas have a high risks of spreading diseases. So, for this purpose government should dig pipelines in ground and supply to those areas where clean water is not available. And there is also a need for digging wells in these areas. Moreover, government should also place tube wells in areas where pipeline is not scatter and by this, people of these areas easily carried clean water to their homes.
Furthermore, clean water is essential for human survival, just like food and air. And also by providing clean water, their is less risks of spreading waterborne diseases like cholera diarrhoea. Supply of clean water also plays an important role in financial problems of poor people who could not afford bottles of clean water. So, providing clean water also provide equal opportunities for all people. Not only that, but government should also ensure the supply of clean water to the whole country
Moreover, it also has negative effects. For instance, getting the water without any cost can also cause disadvantages like people loss a lot water, and it can also buden on government financial sources because providing cleaning water is cost effective and also consume electricity and their is also a huge cost is needed to place pipelines, tube wells, etc.
So, i concluded that getting clean water is basic human right and clean water prevents waterborne diseases. it also provide a great benefit for poor people who could not afford aqua water.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear: you agree that clean water should be provided without charge, and you give relevant reasons, including preventing diseases and helping people who cannot afford bottled water. You also recognise the opposing concern that free provision could encourage waste and place financial pressure on government. This addresses the main parts of the question, but the discussion is uneven: the benefits are explained more fully than the costs, and the essay does not clearly distinguish free access to a basic household supply from unlimited use. The suggestions about pipelines, wells and tube wells are relevant, but their connection to the question of who pays could be made more explicit. Develop the counterargument and explain how your position could address it.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has an overall structure, with an introduction, paragraphs presenting benefits and costs, and a conclusion. The progression from access and health to affordability is generally understandable, and signposts such as “On the one hand” and “Moreover” help identify relationships between ideas. However, the introduction promises to explain both sides, while the body’s organisation does not clearly establish a balanced discussion; the final paragraph also repeats the position rather than drawing the arguments together. Some linking is mechanical or repetitive, particularly repeated uses of “for this purpose” and “also.” A few sentences begin with “And,” which makes the flow less controlled. Use clearer topic sentences and refer back to the central issue of free household supply as each paragraph develops.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “waterborne diseases,” “pipelines,” “tube wells,” and “financial sources.” These terms show an attempt to discuss practical and public-health aspects of water provision. However, the range is limited by repeated phrases such as “free of cost,” “clean water,” and “provide,” and some word choices or collocations are inaccurate, for example “cleaning water is cost effective” and “pipeline is not scatter.” There are also spelling errors, including “buden,” which reduce precision. Aim to vary repeated wording and check that each term expresses the intended meaning. More precise phrases for public funding, infrastructure costs and water access would make the argument clearer and more natural.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including clauses with “because” and “where,” and the main message is usually understandable. However, control is inconsistent, especially in longer constructions. Examples include “access to clean water is basic human right,” “people loss a lot water,” and “it also provide a great benefit,” where articles, verb forms or agreement are incorrect. Some sentences are joined awkwardly, such as “And there is also a need for digging wells in these areas,” and punctuation and capitalisation are not consistently controlled. These errors sometimes make the reader pause to interpret the sentence. Practise building complex sentences around one clear main clause, then check articles, subject–verb agreement and verb forms during editing.
