Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is a basic human right for every individual to get clean water. Therefore, water supply which is free of cost ,should be provided to everyone in their homes. I agree with the given ideology and reasons to strengthen my viewpoint are discussed in subsequent paragraphs.

To commence with, some people assert that if government take reponsibility of proving free clean water, it will be a financial libality for the govenment. To be precise, government have to pay alot of money for creating supply system of clean water. Hence, it will cost a major amout of government budget.

On the flip side, I beleive that if clean water is available to everyone than the rate of spreading diseases could be reduced. In fact, unhygenic conditions including dirty water is one of the major reason for increasing rate of diseases. To cite an example, it is generally seen that the area where people do not have access to clean water like slum areas, the rate of people getting sick is very high, they face many dangerous diseases because of poor living conditions. Thus, it is very neccessary for poor people to have clean water ,so as to reduce the diseases.

Apart from this, people who belong to lower income group can not afford clean purified water bottles daily. As a matter of fact, poor people who earns very low wages will spend their their har earned money on food to satisfy their hunger and will compromise with the water quality, because the water bottles of filtered water sold in market are very expensive. Therefore, free clean water is very important for this category of people.

To conclude, although it is a financial burden on government to establish a water supply system, it will be beneficial for people who has low salaries and will also decrease the rate of diseases.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear from the introduction (“I agree”) and remains consistent in the conclusion. You give relevant reasons: free access could reduce illness, and lower-income households may be unable to afford bottled water. The example of people in slum areas helps illustrate the health argument. However, the opposing point about the cost to government is introduced but not fully weighed against your reasons, and the health and affordability arguments would benefit from more specific explanation. Also clarify whether you support a free household supply for everyone or targeted support for poorer households, since the essay moves between these positions. Developing and balancing these ideas more fully would make the response more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the cost concern and your supporting reasons, and a conclusion. Linking expressions such as “To commence with,” “On the flip side,” and “To conclude” make the stages easy to follow. However, some transitions feel formulaic, and the relationship between the first body paragraph and your stated agreement could be made clearer by explicitly explaining why the benefits outweigh the cost. The health paragraph also combines a general claim, an example, and a conclusion without fully separating or developing them. Use referencing more precisely and vary the links between ideas so the progression feels less mechanical.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “financial burden,” “clean water,” “lower income group,” and “water quality,” which allows you to discuss the issue clearly. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “As a matter of fact.” However, spelling errors and inaccurate word choices are noticeable, including “reponsibility,” “libality,” “amout,” and “beleive.” Some expressions are awkward or imprecise, such as “rate of spreading diseases” and “water bottles of filtered water.” Aim for accurate collocations and a more varied range of terms for public water provision, affordability, and health outcomes. Proofreading spelling and choosing natural phrases would improve precision without changing your ideas.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use both simple and complex sentence forms, including conditional structures such as “if clean water is available to everyone” and a concession in the conclusion beginning “although.” Most of the argument remains understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “government take responsibility” needs subject–verb agreement, while “government have to pay” also requires an appropriate verb form. In “people who belongs” and “poor people who earns,” the verbs do not agree with plural subjects. There are also sentence-boundary and punctuation problems, particularly the long sentence beginning “To cite an example.” Work on agreement, articles, and punctuation, while retaining your attempts at complex sentences.
