Student answer (Band 5.5)

Clean water is a basic human right. Every home has the availability of water that is provided free of charge. I agree with this statement.

Water is the one of the basic needs for the survial of mankind. Without water there is no life on earth. So there should be availability of clean water for all of us it is our basic human right .Government should take the following steps for the clean water. For example the areas where are not availaibility of clean water government should provide tankers to these areas without any charge because not everyone can afford this.In some areas the people are suffering due to water shortage. They dont even have enough water to drink. The children collected the water from wells which are far from their houses .Government should plant a water planters in these areas so that everyone can get a clean water for drinking and other processes.

For instance, from my daily life experience I live in a place where there is also a water shortage problem and as well as there is no filters available so that we can get a clean water for household use. Moreover, sometimes after an excessive rain or when the weather is bad the water is not available and if the water is coming its mixes with the dirty water, because the savage pipes lines are broken. In case this causes a major problem for us because the water is not clean and clear so we remained disturbed until the pipes repaired. The government should look at this issue and provide the services which can ease the difficulties of the people relating clean water without any charges from the people in return because not everyone can afford this extra expenses.

To sum up this I think that everyone is responsible for their health, although it is our moral duty as a citizen to take steps for the availability of clean water without any charges by including government along in this matter.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you agree that clean water should be available to every household without charge. You address the issue with relevant reasons, including water as essential for life, shortages in some areas, and your own experience of contaminated supply. The personal example about broken sewer pipes helps make the argument concrete. However, some points are asserted rather than fully explained: for example, the suggestion to provide tankers or install water facilities could be linked more explicitly to how free access should be guaranteed for every home. The conclusion also introduces citizens’ responsibility, which is not developed in the main argument. Develop these points and connect each example more directly to your position.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has an overall structure, moving from your position to general reasons, a personal example, and a conclusion. Paragraphing helps distinguish the main discussion from your experience, and phrases such as “For instance” and “To sum up” signal transitions. However, much of the first body paragraph is presented as a long sequence of ideas, so the links between water shortages, children collecting water, and the proposed government response are not always clear. Some connectors are also mechanical or awkward, such as “Moreover” and “In case,” and references such as “this issue” could identify the problem more precisely. Organise each paragraph around one main point and use clearer links to show cause, example, and consequence.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate your main ideas, including “water shortage,” “tankers,” “filters,” and “household use.” The personal example also gives you opportunities to describe practical problems. However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation, and spelling errors make parts less natural or occasionally difficult to follow. Examples include “water planters” for water infrastructure, “savage pipes lines” for sewer pipes, and “extra expenses” where “additional costs” would be more suitable. There are also repeated uses of “clean water” and “availability.” Build a wider set of accurate expressions for water access, treatment, and supply, and check spelling and collocations carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences with reasons and examples, so the response shows some variety in structure. The main message is generally understandable, but errors in sentence boundaries, articles, agreement, and verb forms occur across the response. For example, “Water is the one of the basic needs” has an article error, while “if the water is coming its mixes” has problems with clause structure and agreement. Several sentences run together, as in the section beginning “So there should be availability,” and punctuation around full stops is inconsistent. Practise separating long ideas into complete sentences, then check articles and subject–verb agreement. More accurate control of these patterns would make your argument easier to read.
