Student answer (Band 6.0)

Facility of clean water is a fundamental right of every human. some people think that it must be available to each household free of charge, I partly agree with the statement that access to water supply should be free of charge. There must be some charges to prevent the unnecessary wastage and overconsumption of water.

To begin with, water must be accessible to all who are in need or belong to low socio-economic status , However , there are wealthier families who can pay easily as they use water in garden or swimming pools .Providing water facility free of cost leads to wastage of water on unnecessary things or people may use water with negligence which cause scarcity of water. For instance, People become more irresponsible regarding water consumption , such as they would waste lot of water on washing their vehicles when come to know that there are no bill for such usage.

Moreover, water distribution and treatment require large investment, therefore government should implement reasonable charge to keep the enough budget that is required for maintaining the infrastructure required for purification of water and other procedures. for example, chlorination of water , cleaning and repair of pipelines at large level need vast financial budget.

In conclusion, although clean water is essential necessity of all human beings, however providing this facility to all without any price cause scarcity of water. already with limited water resources, it is responsibility of government to put affordable charges on consumption of excessive water. This will helps to save water and avoid the wastage of water.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear: you partly agree, supporting free or accessible provision for people in need while arguing that charges can discourage waste and fund treatment and infrastructure. These points are relevant, and the examples about vehicle washing, pools and pipeline maintenance help explain your reasoning. This meets the task well overall, but the two main arguments are not developed equally: the case for protecting low-income households is stated briefly, while the risks of free use receive more explanation. The conclusion also shifts towards charging for “excessive water” without clearly distinguishing this from a basic free household supply. Clarifying exactly what should be free and how charges would apply would make your response more fully developed and consistent.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and the ideas generally progress from access and waste to the cost of water treatment. Linking expressions such as “To begin with,” “Moreover” and “In conclusion” help signal this progression. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. The opening moves from what “some people think” to your own position in a crowded sentence, and “although … however” creates an awkward relationship in the conclusion. The example about vehicle washing is relevant but could be integrated more smoothly with the claim about scarcity. Use clearer sentence boundaries and make each paragraph’s central point explicit to strengthen the flow.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “low socio-economic status,” “overconsumption,” “scarcity,” “chlorination” and “infrastructure.” These choices show an attempt to discuss the issue beyond basic terms, and the meaning is generally understandable. Some phrases, however, are imprecise or unnatural, such as “Facility of clean water,” “water facility,” “at large level” and “keep the enough budget.” Repetition of “water,” “wastage” and “free of charge” also limits flexibility. Aim for more natural collocations and precise distinctions—for example, between a basic household allowance and excessive consumption—while checking word forms and spelling. This would make your vocabulary more fluent and accurate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex structures, including clauses with “although,” “therefore” and “when,” and your main ideas can usually be followed. However, errors in sentence boundaries, agreement, articles and verb forms remain noticeable. For example, the opening joins separate ideas with a comma, while “which cause scarcity” needs agreement with its subject; “there are no bill” also has a number-agreement error. In the conclusion, “providing this facility … cause” and “This will helps” show problems with subject–verb forms. Capitalisation and punctuation around sentence openings and examples are inconsistent. Practise building accurate complex sentences and proofreading agreement and clause boundaries; greater control would make your range more effective.
