Student answer (Band 6.5)
Nowadays, availability of clean water is declining in many parts of the world. Many people acknowledge that acces to pure water is a fundamental right and everyone must have the water supply free of cost. I firmly agree with this statement primarily because, water is a basic necessity for various activities and the charges can be a discrimination on common people.
To begin with, water is a fundamental right of every individual. Water is essential for various purposes such as drinking, cleaning cooking and it is important to note that life cannot sustain without water as well. Use of contaminated water can cause multiple diseases in humans .For example, cholera is a waterborne disease and excess nitrate in drinking water can lead to a condition called blue baby syndrome.
Furthermore, existing pure water in the earth is less than 1% which is not sufficient for the use of everyone. Charges on water are discrimination on poor people who cannot afford to buiy it. For the same reason, instead of considering water as a commodity which can be bought with money, availability of pure water must be a basic facility. Moreover, making it free of cost can signficantly reduce the financial burden on middle and lower class people. For instance, poor people may not afford to pay for enough water and often drink contaminated water, while free clean water supply reduces their chance of getting affected with deadly diseases.
In conclusion, since water has paramount importance in individual's life and charging on water can result in extreme discrimination on poor people, I firmly belive that pure water should be supplied to everyone without any charges.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
Your position is clear from the introduction to the conclusion: you firmly support free access to clean water. You address the central issue and give relevant reasons, including water’s importance for daily needs and the risk that charges would disadvantage poorer households. The examples of cholera and nitrate contamination help illustrate the health argument, while the point about contaminated water adds support to your affordability argument. These ideas are extended sufficiently to make the response persuasive. However, the claim that less than 1% of Earth’s water is available is introduced but not explained or connected clearly to why household supply should be free. Developing this point, and clarifying how free provision could be funded or managed, would make the argument more fully developed and precise.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction states your view, two body paragraphs present supporting reasons, and the conclusion restates your position. The progression from water’s necessity to affordability is logical, and signposts such as “To begin with,” “Furthermore,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the argument. Examples are generally placed near the claims they support. At times, however, connections between ideas could be more explicit. For instance, the statistic about the limited amount of usable water does not clearly lead into the claim about discrimination, and several sentences in the second body paragraph repeat the affordability point. Use more precise links to show how each claim supports your position, and reduce repetition to make the progression more flexible.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “fundamental right,” “contaminated water,” “waterborne disease,” and “financial burden.” These choices communicate the main ideas and show some willingness to use less common terms. However, several word-choice and collocation errors reduce naturalness: “charges on water are discrimination” would be more idiomatic as “water charges discriminate against,” while “existing pure water in the earth” is unclear and could be “the proportion of Earth’s freshwater that is accessible.” There are also spelling errors such as “acces,” “buiy,” “signficantly,” and “belive.” Check spelling carefully and learn common word partnerships, especially when expressing affordability and access, to make your vocabulary more precise.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including a reason clause in “because water is a basic necessity” and a relative clause in “people who cannot afford to buy it.” Most sentences remain understandable, and the argument is not obscured by grammatical problems. Some errors in sentence construction and punctuation remain. For example, “drinking, cleaning cooking” needs clearer punctuation and parallel phrasing, and “life cannot sustain without water” would be more accurately expressed as “life cannot be sustained without water.” There are also issues with articles and possessives in “in individual’s life,” and spacing before punctuation in “humans .For example.” Review articles, passive forms, and punctuation, while continuing to practise varied complex sentences.
