Student answer (Band 6.5)

Many people believe that it a basic human right to have clean water supply in their homes and governmnets should make it free of cost. I agree with this statement, although some restrictions and measures should be in place to ensure smooth supply of clean water.

First of all, the access to basic necessities of life should be available to every human. Water is one of the major necessity of life and no life on earth can thrive without it. The governments should be responsible to provide clean water to every household without any charge. Many governments in Europe, specailly Russia, are following this and ensure that their citizens have free excess to water throughout the year as it is their basic right while many underdeveloped countries failed to do so, because of lack of resources and funds.

Although, free supply of clean water is a basic human right but some restrictions and measures should be in place. To ensure the smooth supply and to minimize water wastage, it should be deilvered according to the timetable and areas, thus everyone can get equal amount of clean water per day in different times. Moreover, some laws should be imposed, for instance in the form of fine, which will prevent the citizens from wasting the clean water. Humans should also be responsible and answerable for their actions.

In conclusion, free clean water is the basic right of every human and it is the responsiblity of the governmnet to ensure it smooth and timely supply. Nevertheless, the citizens should also become responsible and take part in the betterment of society.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear from the introduction: you agree that clean water should be free, while recognising that controls may be needed. You address both the government’s responsibility and citizens’ role, and the examples of scheduled distribution and fines are relevant. This gives the response a sound, task-focused foundation. However, some points are asserted rather than fully explained. For example, the reference to Russia and other European governments is broad and does not show how free provision works or support the argument with a specific example. The proposed timetable also needs clarification: explain how rationing or scheduled access would preserve equal access without limiting the right. Developing these points more precisely would make the argument more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction states your view, two body paragraphs present the main reasons and qualifications, and the conclusion restates your position. Sequencing phrases such as “First of all,” “Moreover,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the argument. The progression is generally logical, but some connections feel mechanical, and the relationship between free access and restrictions could be signposted more carefully. For instance, the second body paragraph moves from equal distribution to fines and then personal responsibility without explaining how these measures fit together. The phrase “Although … but” also creates an awkward link between ideas. Use clearer transitions and refer back to the central claim when introducing each supporting point.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of topic-related vocabulary, including “basic human right,” “household,” “water wastage,” “restrictions,” and “responsible.” These choices make your position and examples understandable, and you attempt some more formal expressions. However, several spelling errors and imprecise or unnatural word combinations limit the accuracy of the vocabulary: “governmnet,” “specailly,” “free excess,” and “deilvered” are examples. Phrases such as “smooth supply” and “equal amount” could also be expressed more naturally and precisely. Aim to check spelling carefully and learn common collocations related to public services and water provision. More precise wording would help you express the policy ideas with greater flexibility.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “although,” “because,” and “which.” Most of the argument remains understandable, and the conclusion is clearly framed. Some grammatical errors persist, however. The opening says “it a basic human right,” omitting the verb “is,” while “Water is one of the major necessity” has a number-agreement problem. The sentence beginning “Although, free supply …” combines “although” with “but,” and “thus everyone can get” does not connect smoothly to the preceding clause. There are also article and sentence-structure issues in phrases such as “ensure it smooth and timely supply.” Review articles, singular/plural agreement, and the construction of complex sentences to improve accuracy.
