Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You identify that the plans compare the farm in 1950 with its current layout and mention some relevant changes, including solar panels, parking, and the conversion of a track into a road. However, the response addresses the task only minimally: it gives no clear overview of the main changes and omits major features such as the farm shop, camping field, holiday cottages, and the continued presence of the farmhouse, chickens, and agricultural plots. The claim that two new barns were built is not supported by the plans; the barn remains, although its position relative to the road is different. The response is also 75 words below the required minimum, leaving too little detail to summarise and compare the plans adequately. Select the main changes and describe their locations accurately.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
There is a basic attempt to organise the response by introducing the comparison and then describing changes, using signals such as “Initially” and “In contrast.” However, the ideas are not arranged into a clear, coherent account of the two plans. The opening sentence is difficult to follow, and the later points—solar panels and parking, barns, the road, and a “resting place”—are presented without clear relationships or a consistent route through the site. The reference “behind” does not make the location clear, and “In contrast” does not establish a meaningful contrast between the details that follow. Use a brief overview, then group changes by area or by what has remained and what has changed, with clear location references.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The response uses some task-relevant vocabulary, including “solar panels,” “parking,” “sheep field,” “track,” and “road,” so the reader can recognise the general subject. However, the range is limited and several word choices or combinations make the meaning unclear. For example, “current situation of plans” is not a natural way to describe the present-day map, while “technelogy site” and “restting place” do not clearly convey the intended features. There are also spelling errors such as “illluatrate” and “technelogy.” Build a more precise map vocabulary and use standard terms such as “present-day layout,” “facilities,” and “parking area.” Check spelling and collocations before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt to form connected sentences, including a comparison introduced by “In contrast,” but the range of sentence structures is limited and errors frequently make the description difficult to understand. The opening lacks a clear grammatical structure: “the Beechwood farm differences in 1950 and current situation of plans illluatrate…” does not establish a clear subject and verb. In “previous sheep field added solar panels,” the relationship between the former field and the new features is not expressed with a complete, accurate clause. Articles and prepositions are also missing or unclear, as in “site of farm” and “in area.” Use straightforward, complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check articles, tense, and punctuation in each sentence.
