Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the two time periods and mention several relevant changes, including the sheep area becoming a camping area, the addition of parking and solar panels, and the continued presence of the river-side fields. However, the overview is unclear and includes inaccurate or confusing claims: “different shops” were not present in 1950, and the farm shop is a new feature today. The statement that the river was “outside of the farm” is also not a useful comparison, as it borders the site. Some key changes are misreported: the barn and farmhouse remain, while holiday cottages were added south of the eastern road, rather than replacing the barn or farmhouse. To improve, give a clear overview of the main changes and describe the locations and continuity of features accurately.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has separate paragraphs and attempts to move from an overview to details about 1950 and today, so there is some organisation. However, the progression is difficult to follow because several sentences combine unrelated features or repeat information without clear comparison. For example, the overview moves from sheep to “different shops” and then parking, while the final paragraph shifts abruptly between parking, solar panels, buildings, roads and the farm shop. Linking words such as “Furthermore,” “Similarly,” “In Contrast,” and “Consequently” are sometimes used inaccurately or do not clarify the relationship between ideas. Organise the report by major areas or by changes and unchanged features, and use simpler, more precise links between comparisons.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant map vocabulary, including “replaced,” “installed,” “parking,” “solar panels,” and “holiday cottage,” showing an attempt to describe land use and development. However, the range is limited and several word choices or spellings make the meaning difficult to understand. Phrases such as “different shops,” “barn house,” and “shops location” are imprecise, while “Toad” appears to be a misspelling of “road.” There are also repeated spelling errors, including “trinagle,” “amde,” “sintop,” and “Consequentally.” Use accurate labels from the map and practise common collocations such as “the area was converted into” and “a road was added.” Proofreading spelling would make your descriptions clearer.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including comparisons with “While” and clauses joined by “and,” but control is weak and errors frequently obscure relationships. Examples include “Beechwood farm has changed in several things,” “sheep was the biggest area,” and “the track was changes,” which show problems with sentence construction, agreement and verb forms. Tense also shifts inconsistently between past and present, as in “sheep changed” and “the sheep were replaced.” Several sentences are fragments or lack a clear main clause, particularly those beginning “While” or “Similarly.” Build accurate short sentences first, keep past forms for 1950 and present forms for today, and check subject–verb agreement and punctuation before adding complex clauses.
