Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response covers the main features of the transformation well. You successfully identified the key changes, such as the replacement of the sheep farm with parking and camping facilities, and noted the elements that remained constant, like the river and fruit trees. However, there are some inaccuracies in your reporting; for instance, you mention the 'farm shop' was added to the western part, but the map shows it replaced the original farmhouse location. Additionally, the description of the barn's relocation is slightly confusing. To reach a higher band, ensure your spatial descriptions are precise and avoid contradictory statements regarding the location of features.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, with an introduction, a general overview, and detailed body paragraphs. You use some cohesive devices like 'In addition', 'Similarly', and 'Furthermore' to link ideas. However, the flow is occasionally hindered by repetitive phrasing and some mechanical transitions. The referencing is sometimes unclear, particularly when describing the location of the barn and the holiday cottages. Improving the variety of your linking words and ensuring that pronouns or references clearly point to the intended subject would enhance the overall coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'facilities', 'converted', and 'developed'. However, there are some word choice errors and awkward collocations, such as 'outlay' (layout would be more appropriate), 'eastern coast' (the site is a farm, not a coastal area), and 'bam' (likely a typo for barn). The repetition of phrases like 'in the same location' limits the sophistication of your lexical range. To improve, try to use more precise synonyms for spatial changes and ensure your terminology accurately reflects the features shown on the map.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt to use passive voice ('was replaced', 'was constructed'), there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement and articles (e.g., 'the tracks was constructed', 'a newly developed holiday cottages'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are some issues with comma usage and sentence structure clarity. To improve, focus on ensuring that your subjects and verbs agree and that your use of articles is consistent. Proofreading for small errors in tense and number will help improve your accuracy.
