Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response covers the main features of the two maps, identifying the key changes such as the conversion of the track into a road and the addition of tourist facilities. However, the report is somewhat descriptive rather than analytical. While it mentions the main changes, it lacks a clear, cohesive overview that synthesizes the transformation of the site from a working farm to a tourist destination. Some details are slightly inaccurate, such as the claim that the barn is in the south, whereas the map shows it in the north-west. To improve, ensure that the overview highlights the most significant trends rather than just listing changes, and verify the spatial accuracy of your descriptions.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The response is organized into logical paragraphs, with an introduction, an overview, and body paragraphs detailing the changes. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and limited. Transitions between sentences are occasionally abrupt, and the flow could be improved by using more sophisticated linking words to connect the 1950 state with the present day. For instance, the transition between the description of the 1950 site and the current site could be smoother. The paragraphing is appropriate, but the internal cohesion within paragraphs needs more variety to achieve a higher band score.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the reader to understand the changes described. You use some relevant terms like 'advancements', 'converted', and 'established'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'development held on farm' (should be 'development of the farm') and 'road consists of parking' (should be 'road with parking'). To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more precise terminology for describing map changes, such as 'transformed into', 'replaced by', or 'remained unchanged', and ensure that your phrasing sounds more natural in an academic context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the' is often missing, e.g., 'in middle of site') and subject-verb agreement ('Barn, Farmhouse and chickens was'). Additionally, there are issues with pluralization and preposition usage. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to affect the overall clarity. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy, specifically regarding articles, plural forms, and verb agreement, and try to incorporate a wider variety of complex sentence structures with greater precision.
