Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which negatively impacts the score. While you have identified some main features of the maps, the description is incomplete and ends abruptly mid-sentence. You have attempted to compare the 1950 layout with the current one, but the analysis lacks detail and precision. To improve, ensure you provide a comprehensive overview of all significant changes and maintain a consistent focus on the data provided. The abrupt ending suggests a lack of planning and time management, preventing a full development of the task requirements.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The response is organised into paragraphs, but the flow of ideas is often disjointed. While you use some cohesive devices like 'In the north' and 'Moreover', the connections between sentences are sometimes mechanical or unclear. The referencing is occasionally confusing, such as the phrase 'which becomes daily of this Farm into modern', which lacks logical clarity. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, unified topic. The sudden termination of the text significantly disrupts the overall coherence of the report.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is somewhat limited and occasionally inaccurate. Phrases like 'technological globalization' and 'obtain their nutrition by grass' are either misused or unnatural in this context. There are also issues with word choice, such as 'substantial figures' to describe physical features of a farm. While you attempt to use topic-specific vocabulary (e.g., 'solar panels', 'holiday cottage'), the lack of precision hinders the clarity of your report. To improve, focus on learning collocations related to describing maps and changes, and ensure you use words that accurately reflect the visual information provided.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'The two maps illustrates'), article usage, and sentence structure (e.g., 'barn used to located'). The sentence 'The water supply was river which doesn' is incomplete, leaving a grammatical gap. While you attempt some complex structures, they are often faulty. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically the use of passive voice for describing changes in maps, and proofread your work to ensure all sentences are complete and grammatically sound.
