Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the task by identifying key changes between 1950 and the present day. However, the overview is weak and lacks a clear summary of the most significant transformations. While the student mentions solar panels and roads, the description of the site's layout is somewhat disjointed. Some details are repetitive, and the report lacks a cohesive synthesis of the spatial changes. To improve, ensure that the overview highlights the most striking trends—such as the shift from agricultural production to tourism and renewable energy—rather than simply listing individual changes. The response covers the main features but lacks the analytical depth required for a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical progression is hindered by awkward phrasing and repetitive sentence structures. While cohesive devices like 'In addition', 'Furthermore', and 'Meanwhile' are used, they are often placed mechanically and do not always create a smooth flow between ideas. The referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the phrase 'Delving deeper into remaining map', which feels unnatural. The paragraphing is present, but the internal structure of the paragraphs lacks a clear thematic focus, making the information feel like a list of observations rather than a cohesive report.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is limited and frequently inaccurate. There are several instances of incorrect word forms and collocations, such as 'solar panels were took a place of sheep' and 'roads were build in the replacement of tracks'. The student relies on basic vocabulary and struggles to use precise terms to describe map changes (e.g., 'new things added' instead of 'converted' or 'developed'). While the meaning is generally understandable, the lack of variety and the persistent errors in word choice prevent the response from reaching a higher band. Expanding your range of verbs and nouns related to urban and rural development is essential.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the reader's flow. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'vegetables are also remain', 'chickens are remain') and passive voice construction (e.g., 'roads were build'). The sentence structures are mostly simple or contain errors when attempting more complex forms. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary spaces before commas. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, particularly the correct use of tense and passive voice, which is crucial for describing map changes over time.
