Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5

The response covers all key features of the maps, including the significant transformation from a farm to a more commercial site. You have successfully identified the main trends, such as the addition of new facilities and the relocation of existing ones. However, the description of the 1950 layout is slightly imprecise; for instance, stating the sheep were 'situated' in the north-east is a bit vague. To reach a higher band, ensure you provide more precise spatial relationships and clearly contrast the 'before' and 'after' states. The overview is clear and effectively highlights the most important changes, which is a strength.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is logically organized into an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs. The progression of information is generally clear, moving from the past to the present. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical. For example, the transition between sentences in the final paragraph feels a bit list-like. Using a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'consequently', 'furthermore', 'in contrast to') would improve the flow. Paragraphing is used appropriately, and the information is grouped logically by time period, which helps the reader follow the changes easily.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to describe the changes, using terms like 'relocated', 'constructed', and 'underwent significant changes'. However, there are some minor inaccuracies in word choice and collocation. For example, 'a new parking' should be 'a new parking area', and 'by the connected two roads' is awkward phrasing. To improve, focus on using more precise nouns and collocations related to map descriptions, such as 'situated in the vicinity of' or 'replaced by a network of roads'. The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the sophistication required for a higher band.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'Camping field located in the center' (missing a verb) and 'the holiday cottages constructed' (missing an auxiliary verb). Additionally, there are minor issues with article usage and prepositional phrases. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and ensuring that every sentence has a clear, complete structure.
