IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The plans below show the site of a farm in 1950 and the same site today.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.



 

Student answer (Band 7.5)

The given two maps illustrates how the farm Beechwood evolved after a timeframe from 1950 to today.

Overall, the farm was terraformed into a more modern and urbanized style. However, the road layout and the river remained relatively the same as before.

The biggest change was the sheep area getting replaced with two parking lots, a camping field, and a few solar panels. Likewise, barn was relocated so the holiday cottages could take its place. The two parking lots were placed quite far apart as one is right next to the main road while the other one is to the west side. Additionally, a farm shop was added right next to the main road intersection and a tree was planted not so farther to the west.

Altogether, all farming areas except for the sheep area remained mostly unchanged and Beechwood farm has become more able to accommodate visitors. Having more housing cottages, parking lots and renewable energy sources, the farm has also become much more self sustaining.
