Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 8.0

The response effectively covers the main features of the farm's transformation. You successfully identified the key changes, such as the introduction of solar panels, holiday cottages, and visitor amenities, while noting what remained unchanged. The overview provides a clear summary of the transition from traditional agriculture to a multifunctional site. To reach a higher band, ensure that all comparisons are precise; for instance, you mentioned the barn was relocated, but describing the specific shift in its position relative to the original site would add more analytical depth. Overall, the task is well-addressed with a clear focus on the most significant developments.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5

The essay is logically organized, with a clear introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs focusing on the past and present respectively. The progression of ideas is easy to follow. You use some cohesive devices effectively, such as 'In 1950' and 'Today', to signal time shifts. However, the flow could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words to connect sentences within paragraphs. For example, some sentences feel slightly disconnected. Improving the use of referencing (e.g., 'the latter', 'the former') would help create a more cohesive and sophisticated narrative.

Lexical Resource — Band 7.5

You demonstrate a good range of vocabulary appropriate for describing maps and changes, such as 'transformed', 'multifunctional', 'redeveloped', and 'accessibility'. There are some minor inaccuracies, such as 'traditional agriculture site' (should be 'traditional agricultural site') and 'soft trees' (which is not a standard botanical term). Despite these minor slips, the vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly and precisely. To improve, focus on more natural collocations and ensure that technical terms are used accurately to describe the features shown on the map.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 7.0

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('The western side of farm contain', 'The sheep field... have been replaced') and missing articles ('a network of track'). While these errors are noticeable, they do not impede communication. To achieve a higher band, you should aim for more error-free sentences and ensure consistent control over verb tenses, particularly when switching between the past state of the farm and its current configuration.
