IELTS Writing Task 1 question
The plans below show the site of a farm in 1950 and the same site today.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Student answer (Band 6.5)
The maps show the changes made to a farm for over 70 years from 1950 to today.
The farm was crossed by track in 1950, while the tracks are changed to road today for the convenience of driving. And there are two parking areas now which are all beside the road and one parking area is on the corner of main road and the road, the other is at the right of map. A new farm shop is built in the fruit trees area and holiday cottages replace the area of the original barn and the new barn locates at the bottom of the triangle corner.
There was nothing at the north of track. Today there is an area for camping field, which is potentially beneficial to tourism. Many solar panels are built beside the camping field area.
Overall, various tourism facilities are provided in the farm today comparing with the year 1950, and solar-power production is considered for clean power and sustainable development.
