Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Student answer (Band 6.0)
The map represents, the comparison of a farm before and after. An overall analysis shows that there was nothing before but afterward there were a lot of development on the farm.
As we see there was nothing on farm in 1950. it is located near a river and far is divided into four parts. There are fruit trees, soft fruits, and vegetable in the one side. And Farmhouse, Chicken, and Barn are located on the other side of farm. And on the opposite side of track there was an area where sheep's were kept.
On the other hand, look at today's farm. It was so web developed fruit trees, soft fruits, and vegetables fields are on the same place. Two parking areas are made for visitors. There was a new camping area near the entrance of farm. There are few solar panels are near the second parking area. And there are Holidays cottages, Farmhouse, Chickens and Barn on the opposite side of parking area. So today's farm is very well developed and beautiful than the old one.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the task by comparing the two maps, but the overview is inaccurate. You state there was 'nothing before' in 1950, which contradicts the provided map showing a farmhouse, barn, and various agricultural areas. While you identify key features like the fruit trees and the new camping area, the description lacks precision. For example, you mention 'sheep's were kept' (incorrect pluralization) but do not clearly contrast the removal of sheep with the addition of modern facilities like solar panels and holiday cottages. To improve, ensure your overview accurately reflects the main trends rather than making sweeping, incorrect generalizations.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is mechanical and sometimes repetitive, such as starting multiple sentences with 'And'. The progression of ideas is occasionally disjointed, particularly in the transition between the 1950 description and the current layout. The use of referencing is sometimes unclear, such as 'the other side of farm', which lacks a specific point of reference. Improving the variety of linking words (e.g., 'consequently', 'in contrast', 'furthermore') would help create a smoother flow between your observations.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision required for a higher band. You rely on basic descriptors like 'well developed' and 'beautiful', which are subjective and not ideal for a formal report. There are also errors in word choice and form, such as 'web developed' (likely a typo for 'well-developed') and 'sheep's' (incorrect plural). To reach a higher band, focus on using more specific terminology related to map descriptions, such as 'converted', 'replaced', 'expanded', or 'situated', and ensure you use correct plural forms for nouns.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. Issues include incorrect verb tenses ('there were a lot of development'), missing articles ('on farm', 'on the other side of farm'), and punctuation errors. The sentence 'So today's farm is very well developed and beautiful than the old one' contains a comparative error ('more developed... than'). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to lower the score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles will significantly improve your accuracy.
