The plans below show the site of a farm in 1950 and the same site today.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.



 

Student answer (Band 7.0)

The two maps illustrate how Beechwood Farm has changed between 1950 and the present day.

It evident that in 1950, the western part of the farm was devoted to agriculture, with separate section for fruits tress, soft fruits, vegetables. A large sheep area occupied the north-east side. On the estern side, a farmhouse and barn located, with a small area for chikens located nearby. Access within the farm was provided by single track connected to the main road.

Today, the crop- growing area and the farmhouse remain in the same locations, although the road network has been devloped and expanded. The barn has been relocated in south, while original barn site has replaced by holiday cottages. Most of sheep field has been transformed into camping field, solar pannels and an additional car park. Furthermore, a farm shop and another parking area have been consuructed near the entrance.

Overall, the farm has been siginificantly modernised and expanded. While the areas used for growing fruits and vegetables have largely remain unchanged. In addition several new roads, parking areas and commercial buildings have been added.
